I have to admit, I had little interest in this game prior to launch. Whenever I hear a game is "couch co-op only", I scratch my head and wonder why any developer would pass on online co-op. Thankfully, I was able to play this game cooperatively via the Share Play feature on PlayStation 4 and it worked exceptionally well, and I ended up buying the game after that because from what I had played, it was a blast. The soundtrack is EPIC, and the communication required by you and your co-op partner is integral to your missions success because things can get hairy rather quickly. That's not to say the game is a travesty if you play solo, it's not, thanks to a slow down effect that takes place when you're directing your highly effective AI controlled partner where you want them. Hopefully one day Asteroid Base will add online co-op, but for now, if you're playing on PS4, fire up Share Play, invite a friend, and play this game the way it was meant to be played.

The one element I really enjoyed were the variety of gems you'd recover along the way, and mixing and matching them upgrade the ships turrets, shields, and engines. Fully upgraded weapons come in clutch later in the game and you'll need it during those tough boss battles. Very cool game indeed

I was really surprised by how much there was to this game. There is a nice element of strategy, the boss battles are fun, and to those that explore the levels and try to rescue all of the space bunnies this can easily be an 8 hour experience. It's a really cool game. All it needs is online co-op!
