Does it require an always on connection? Will I be able to play if my internet goes down? I hate games that require this.

VerminSC3421d ago

I believe so. During the beta my internet went out and I was still able to play.

SeanScythe3421d ago

If it can be played in single player it's not an MMO.

SnotyTheRocket3421d ago

You're kidding, right? I can play FFXIV solo all I want, It's still an MMO. Same with WoW.

SeanScythe3420d ago

You are still in the servers your just choosing to avoid others and play alone. I wanted to know if you are required to login to the servers to play, if you just want to play single player.

SnotyTheRocket3420d ago

Dude, it's NEVER been advertised as anything but an online shooter. Why the hell wouldn't you want to play online anyway? The dark zone is good shit.

SeanScythe3420d ago

I want to know if my internet is out or is I go somewhere that has crap internet can I still play. Is this really that hard for you to understand? I want to know if it requires an always online connection like destiny? I can't play destiny if I have no internet. I have family that live in a very bad area that only has satellite internet. My cousin wanted to know if he could play it without internet if he got it.

More than likely you'll have to stay connected to their servers because of the loot system. You can probably join other players with your character at any time so this is a way to combat cheaters and hackers.

Joining other players is insanely easy. You head to a story mission or to one of the hubs. In the closed beta, the area you arrive at when you get out of the helicopter lets you see/inspect/invite other players and they have an NPC that will match make you with other people for the free roam part or Dark Zone [DZ said you had to be level 8 to match make], and you can search from a group right from your game.

In the closed beta, match making was very quick and seamless. Hopefully the open beta can handle the influx of people.

I am in absolute agreement with the OP 👌

I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.

Multiplayer or even co-op

If it was always a single player game then that's how it is

Inverno807d ago

It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.

Flawlessmic807d ago

Tbh multilayer now is a way to add live service and mtx elements, very rarely does it come of well.

What single players game used to be in a lot of cases now require 3 other people for keeping to really enjoy it and I hate having to rely on others to get the maximum from a game.

Sp should be sp, if devs want to add a separate multi mode then that's fine with me, the legends addition to ghost of tshushima was fricking sick but totally separate to the main game. Sick of co op too.

I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.

Dagexon806d ago

I didn't notice your comment before I added mine.
But good times indeed
