Honest question. Why does the xbone controller needs an adapter to work on windows? Obvious design flaw or just an attempt to milk gamers into buying the adapter? Is it not bluetooth like the DS3 and DS4?

It runs on 2.4 ghz wireless band i believe. Unless your MB came with bluetooth built in you will need a pci card or usb adapter for that as well and some software to trick your pc into thinking its an xbox controller.

Laptops come with BT and USB BT dongle are dirt cheap like 3 bucks a piece. I forgot what was the software I used to use the DS3 bqck then but I have been using DS4Windows for awhile now and it's awesome. I play all my PC games using my DS4.

They aren't really milking it, you can play with the Micro USB cord but it's a bit of a hassle, but no once is forcing gamers to use it really, the controller itself work wirelessly by default with the Xbox One and some batteries.

But this adapter makes it way easier to just play wirelessly with the X1 controller on your PC, I got one a while ago along with a play and charge kit so I don't have to worry about batteries and it works perfectly for the most part.

Basically, if you don't need it, but it makes things way easier than having to deal with a cord.

And no it's not bluetooth like with the DS4

it doesn't use bluetooth for lower latency and maybe for better battery life
Xbox One controller has much much better battery life than Dualshock 4

and you don't have to buy this adapter you can use it with micro usb cable
