Dev talks building Madison Square Garden in Tom Clancy's The Division

For a game like Tom Clancy's The Division, Ubisoft had to make the world of New York City reflect the canon of the game, that being a virus, which has devastated the city.

Is the out of bounds area supposed to be in the retail game or was this the whole map? I wanna shoot some people in the face in central park.

rdgneoz33369d ago

It was not the whole map. If you went down the streets to where the red wall was for the beta, it said "not available in this beta" or such. Zone out on the map and you'd see a much larger area. At the base, if you got the 1 upgrade available to the medical wing, you'd notice overall base completion at 6% and 2/30 upgrades completed (10 for each wing).

The beta was pretty much to test servers and look for bugs (which the found with the PC players altering stat files which were some reason stored on the client computers instead of the servers for an online only MMOish game), which is the point of most betas. It was a beta, not a demo.

ScorpiusX3369d ago

Here's a wild idea how about making sure everyone that pre-orders your game gets into the beta like you stated and guarantied in print & commercials. bunch of incompetent tools at Ubisoft .

rdgneoz33369d ago

When you have people that find ways to skirt around the pre-order process to download the beta, not everyone can get in. With xbox, you could set your location to Singapore or such. And with PS4, the UK store doesn't charge or need credit card info until the game ships, and you can cancel preorders at anytime. There's also pre-ordering on Amazon and canceling later as well.

Unlike those Folks i pre -order for the incentives like betas ,extra content and whatever else they chose to use to get me to buy the game to which i have qualms about doing. Sadly getting penalized for the sleaziness of others is just FK wrong

rdgneoz33369d ago

If you preordered for the incentives, then you would have gotten in easily when the beta was available for download. They only stopped guaranteeing for the beta after you could download it for a day and the xbox beta was already going. I preordered the day before the download was live and got in without any problems.

Welcome to Earth.

Psychotica3369d ago

Do they have to pay for the rights to include the Madison Square Garden in the game like a race game has to pay for the rights to include Ferrari cars?

ScorpiusX3369d ago

It being owned by Cablevision , would think so due to image & publicity.

rdgneoz33369d ago

They do, which is why other games skirt around that by doing similar cities and such, like GTA with San Andreas or Liberty City and its cars like the Cheetah or Adder for example. But seeing as it's going to be set in NY, they're gonna be paying to use some of the historical / famous places and such.

I am in absolute agreement with the OP 👌

I hate when I see single player games and see people begging for multi-player. Jeez guys it don't need to be on every game. Latest one I seen was atomic heart.

Multiplayer or even co-op

If it was always a single player game then that's how it is

Inverno747d ago

It's a trend that never really went away. For me multiplayer in a primarily SP focused game was an excuse for DLC. Then there's the mentality gamers had that adding multiplayer makes a game worth the price, otherwise it should be half price for half a game. A way of thinking devs reassured when they started adding multiplayer to their sequels. We see the same with multiplayer focused games getting SP in their sequels.

Flawlessmic747d ago

Tbh multilayer now is a way to add live service and mtx elements, very rarely does it come of well.

What single players game used to be in a lot of cases now require 3 other people for keeping to really enjoy it and I hate having to rely on others to get the maximum from a game.

Sp should be sp, if devs want to add a separate multi mode then that's fine with me, the legends addition to ghost of tshushima was fricking sick but totally separate to the main game. Sick of co op too.

Hofstaderman747d ago

I remember when certain single player games had them as included optional modes that was played on the couch. Had brilliant times with Syphon Filter and Golden Eye. Me and my bro used to used to fight over who would play as Gabe even though it was technically just a skin. Good times.

Dagexon746d ago

I didn't notice your comment before I added mine.
But good times indeed
