TXB Interview: Epic and EA Discuss Partnership

At Electronic Arts' Summer Showcase press event yesterday, the EA Partners (EAP) group-which is responsible for the publishing of Rock Band and The Orange Box-announced two new developers with which it's teaming for new games. One is Japanese "punk game" creator, Grasshopper Manufacture (Killer 7), but the big surprise was a pact with Epic Games for a new intellectual property. While neither partnership announcement came with many details on the projects that are being constructed, we wanted to sit down with Epic to find out whatever we could about the collaboration.

TeamXbox's Tom Price and Andy Eddy managed to get some time with Mike Capps, Epic's president, and Craig Rechenmacher, EA Partners' vice president of global marketing, to discuss the deal-how the two parties came together and what it might bring to your game console at some future date. “hopefully Gears, more like a franchise, more of a story, more character-built game,”

Sounds good. Lets hope EA doesn't find some magically way to f&ck things up. Well I guess thats pretty inevitable.
