The last year or so has been a busy one for John Smedley. The mmorpg game developer got into a major dispute with the hacking group Lizard Squad after one of their members made a bomb threat for the plane he was flying on. Also, the game company he headed, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), was sold off and became Daybreak Game Company. After some high profile departures and his issues with hackers, he resigned his position of President of Daybreak and seemingly wandered off into the gaming mists. Then about two weeks ago, he re-emerged as the head of a new, independent game company, Pixelmage Games, and launched the campaign of a new game, Hero's Song, on Kickstarter.
