Why We're Still Playing... GoldenEye 007

Nintendo Life: GoldenEye 007 was my first true experience of a first-person shooter (FPS). Yes, I had played Doom – a classic, of course – but at twelve years old I didn't really appreciate how great it was, instead sticking to racing games and 2D platformers. Oh....hmmmmm. To be perfectly honest, I've always thought that Goldeneye is one of the worst aging games around. I still respect it's place in history, but when I play it nowadays I get very, very little of the same fun I had playing it as a child.

Agreed, this game just does not hold up well, but i would play the hell out of a remake of it with a different engine and some cool stealth mechanics!

Had a GoldenEye party many months ago. So much anticipation and excitement. We were off that game within 10 minutes. A nightmare to control, just did not age well. Puts your youth into perspective. Nostalgia is an evil mistress.

Perfect Dark was better in almost every way but never gets any mention.

still play this all the time. the Ak, sound and spray, is impeccable compared to most other FPS's AKs, new and old. kill oramov* with the golden gun in the facility where you and 006 duke it out in an endless horde mode. memories are priceless.
