As teased on Friday, today Sega officially announced Valkyria Chronicles‘ PS4 remaster’s western release. Note: if you're not familiar with this game, and you want to go blind, do not watch the trailer. It includes a fairly substantial spoiler.
This is nice news, although no real release date :( Looking forward to this game again, the story, the gameplay, the characters. And trophies :-) The anime is also good
The year it released on ps3 it was my game of the year, and it turned out to be my game of that generation. I will easily be getting this again along with the new one in the franchise.
I"m hoping this leads to a release of the 2 sequels with a localization in HD as well. This was probably my favorite game of last gen just beating out TLOU, and to me, probably the last great game that Sega has made. Their followup support with the sequels though really was a punch in the gut. I would play this game about once every 12-18 months, and I was always hoping they'd release a trophy patch, but alas, never got one. HD remaster is a day one for me, and just watching the trailer makes me want to play it again on the PS3...but think I'll wait so I can have the remaster be as fresh as possible on release.:)
Hell yeah. Day one buy. Hopefully the upcoming Valkyria: Azure Revolution will be released in English as well.
I get another chance at it.. Didn't finish it on PS3.
Yes! Excited to play VC again. If all goes well,we get Azure Revolution to boot
F yeah! Prime example why im loyal to PS.. XB just doesnt get games like this.. Its just a remaster but the sequel is also going to be exclusive.. This is the only thing i see from sega sadly.. I hope they start using some of their other IPs soon.. This will do for now though.. Awesome game and now it will have trophies and look even better
Please people buy this if you want to get Azure Revolution! also great we get physical and dual audio. Sega doing a great job with this.
Such a beautiful game.
Art style was stunning, particularly on release. The game and cut-scenes blended together so well, and it's one of those rare games where you can really feel what the creators are trying to convey due to the art style with all it's earthy tones and wholesome look despite it being about a war torn country. So many sad parts in the game, and lots of emotional moments. Can't wait to play it again. People who missed out on it before, or dismissed it for whatever reason, should definitely pick it up. Even if you are turned off by the anime style, this is a game not to miss. SRPG which shook up the genre a bit, and it's the only series which really does something drastically different in concept. It has a few anime tropes going on, but the story is quite beautiful and meaningful, and all the characters are amazingly developed. I can actually say for all the story based games which get so much praise, this game actually probably is the highlight of how to tell a story.
Awesome, I'm really excited about this. Loved this game from last gen. Anyone know if the DLC is included as well?
By any chance, will this remaster have VC 2 and VC 3 too?
wonderful. this obscure gem was day one buy when it first released on ps3. it will be again when its remastered on ps4. so stoked.
I never heard of it when I brought it. I liked the cover art, and anime games were kind of rare on PS3 when it released, so said what the heck. Turned out to be my favorite game of last gen. It's in my top 10 games of all time list even.
Why can't we just have backwards compatibility????
Hmmmm...I'm not sure why there is a spoiler warning for the trailer. I've played the game and I saw no spoiler in this trailer. Anyway, if you haven't played this game definitely play it. I'll pass as the American release doesn't include a demo of the new VC game for PS4 unlike the Japanese version, it looks like. ><
***Spoiler alert*** There is a few seconds of Alicia up close that shows her as one of the Valkyria, although that would probably be lost on those that haven't played the game and didn't know what the Valkyria are, or why it was significant for Alicia. They also show Alicia and Welkin getting together, although that trope was pretty much a given from the start. More interesting part of the story is how their relationship developed, not from Welkin being all about Alicia...as is typical, but the two of them having mutual respect for one another, and coming to find love in war time. It was all pretty natural, and not forced like a lot of stories present it. Definitely a must play for those that missed it. Couldn't recommend the game enough, and everyone I loaned my copy to who wasn't interested at first ended up loving it too. Even if they weren't into the story, they adored the game play which was top notch.
*spoilier alert* (supposedly) Yeah, in that blip of a scene there is no way for newcomers to know it is Alicia nor to know that that was a Valkyria...it's all good imo
Too bad they didn't remastered them cutscenes. When you play it at 1080/60 and then those last-gen cutscenes play, totally takes away from the immersion.
How about zerg rushing with Alicia to the end of the map will that change any.
Loved this on the PC...
