Doom is the most cerebral slaughterhouse you've ever seen | GamesRadar

Do not confuse Doom for some semi-ironic throwback to the big dumb shooters we all (think we) remember from the ‘90s. Do not assume that Doom’s fast, ferocious focus on brutality, bullets, and bone-snappping takedowns indicates some cheap rallying cry to the anti-CoD, ‘old school’-worshipping curmudgeons. I just hope it won't be too short!

The weapon designs and sound they make when fired, seem very satisfactory. But the damage is even more impressive, when compared to Doom 3.

I love Doom... And this seems to be shaping up rather nicely.

Really gutted about the beta, I got an invite but I was away so couldn't try it out. Hope it turns out great.

That was the Alpha. The Beta is still coming.

Agh yea I remember now. I bought wolfenstein, so I guess I'll still get a go on the beta before the game finally releases.

The mention of the word cerebral in the title reminded me of the Cerebral Bore from Turok 2 on N64.

More on topic, I had always assumed that Rage was an experiment in new gameplay concepts specifically so they wouldn't ruin the Doom franchise with concepts that didn't work out well enough the first time around. Doom is looking really interesting, moreso every time I hear about it. I like the forge style map editor too!
