"Though Scott Cawthon claims he’s done with his jump scare series Five Nights at Freddy’s, he’s not done with those characters. His most ambitious project yet, the RPG game Five Nights at Freddy’s World, just came out on Steam."Patrick Klepek
Five Nights at Freddy’s World, the new RPG from Scott Cawthon set in his popular Five Nights at Freddy’s universe, has been re-released after Cawthon pulled it from sale last month.
George Foster from GamersFTW writes:
It’s painful for me to admit it as a fan of the series but Five Nights at Freddy’s World is simply not very good. Scott Cawthon (the creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s) has even admitted with a public message to the community that this time it was perhaps a rushed game too many and that the game will now be taken down from Steam to enable him to fix the mistakes.
A clear sign of franchise saturation. Too bad since the first game was actually original and gripping
“Scott Cawthon has tried to give too much to the community and milk his success for all its worth.”
He tried to pull an Angry Birds and failed. Putting out too much too soon will just saturate what could have been a growing market. A rookie mistake in the business world.
The Five Nights at Freddy’s community is of mixed sorts at the moment. On one hand, they are excited about the surprise launch of Five Nights at Freddy’s World, — the latest in the FNaF series — which launched yesterday on PC. On the other hand, many have noticed the content lacking.
This seems like a desperate use of a popular IP in a place where it ultimately makes no sense. It would have really behooved the dev to try a new IP and keep the Freddy name for games of its ilk. I don't care for them at all, but this game looks pretty underwhelming and short term gain doesn't seem worth tainting the image of your brand.
