From GamesReviews:
"Paper Mario games are great, although have been trending downwards since the release of The Thousand Year Door on the GameCube. The last release, Sticker Star, was lackluster to say the least, borrowing heavily from the 2D Super Mario games heavily by removing the ‘open world’ and replacing it with Worlds and Levels, i.e. World 1-Level 1. On the other hand, Mario and Luigi games have always been strong titles, and even Dream Team – despite its various faults and pacing issues – was still an excellent release. I have to assume that Paper Mario fans were intrigued by Paper Jam while Mario and Luigi fans were disappointed. There was nowhere to go but up for the Paper Mario series, and seemingly nowhere but down for Mario and Luigi. Fortunately, Nintendo and the developers of Paper Jam pulled it off!"
The Mario & Luigi series has been dormant since the Nintendo 3DS, but the success of the Switch is the perfect opportunity to bring it back.
Join Amras89 and Tephlon12 for game talk and fun! This time, The Gamesmen talk about THQ Nordic acquires a sturio, Battlefront II temporarily turning off all microtransactions, the Vive Tracker, and the Super Mario Bros movie. There have been quite a few Mario RPGs, but what are the best Mario RPG games? As a hint, they don't include Sticker Star.
Super Mario RPG will always be my no. 1 Mario RPG. The N64 Paper Mario is a very close second.
Mario has like 5 different types of RPG series now
- Super Mario RPG
- Paper Mario
- Mario & Luigi
- Puzzles and Dragons: Super Mario Bros Edition
- Mario + Rabbids
I've been looking forward to this game as I think it looks like a solid combination of the two game series as well as an return to greatness for Mario RPG.
This is going to be an extremely strong year for the 3DS between Steamworld Heist, Paper Jam, Final Fantasy, Fire Emblem, Dragon Quest, Metroid, and more.
We very well could see a new real Animal Crossing and Pokemon by year's end.
If this is the swan song for the 3DS to make way for some hybrid NX thing, then they are going out strong. Regardless of the NX, the DS line will have long legs due to its install base. My daughter and I upgraded to the New 3DS and share it, and it gets a lot of use between us. Great investment!
Also a new sonic game planned for 2016
Still can't help but be skeptical on this one. I loved the original Paper Mario and TTYD but every one after that has been a let down in some way. The Mario and Luigi series followed a similar trend. They are all at minimum decent games so I will most likely pick this one up anyway. Hopefully it has returned to its former glory.
(Not looking for a debate btw obviously everyone has different opinions.)
