HDR has scored a ton of videos shot directly from the PS3 Home Beta.
"At approximately 50GB per area this could take a serious chunk out of one's hard drive." Wow, I did not know this.... I guess I'll need a bigger hard drive...
it has to get commpressed when it is into the hdd
I think you mean 50MB, not 50GB.
A typo that was fixed.
You had me worried x_x And at 50MB an area, I don't see it taking up that much space :/ You'd have to download 20 to get 1 GB, interesting to see what they do with friend's rooms though. I'd guess that it'd save the base of the different rooms, and then just loads (option to save?) the location of items.
50 GB? You'd have to be an idiot to fall for a typo like that LMAO!
So far - only the home square was 50 meg - all the other areas have been less than that!
When i saw that i was like "HOLY $hit!"
did anyone else hear the airplane @ :06 in the Courtyard 2 video? I wonder if that was real life or "in game"?
The winner of the most boring "looking" Beta IS!!!!
The areas vary from 21mb up to 50 mb Rob
Wish I had a chance to try it out now
better than moust games!!! its good n sad... LoL
Don't invite a 'xBox 360 Avatar' in to your PS3 'HOME'... It will look around and start to CRY!!! ;-D 'Mii Mii want HOME' 'Micro$oft are USELESS!' SOB SOB!!! ;-D +I didn't get a eMail to :-(
Lol, MS trying to compete against Home with Avatars! nobody is gonna use their inferior kiddy and gimmicky community service.
Kimya Dawson :P
What is all of that clicking on those videos? I really hope it is the camera.
Controller, or anything else
Why hasn't this application been released publicly yet. All these videos are getting me too excited.
Home still isn't ready and thats coming from somone who is in the beta.
Oh dear God, now you have me worried! I don't know what to think anymore.
I've been using it, and theres still plety more polish to be applied before it could be called a finished app. Whats there is great for what it is - but I've a feeling a lo of people have unrealistic expectations of it being a game, instead a very feature rich multiplayer lobby, so some people mioght be disapointed. For my own part - I love it and have alresady made plenty more friends and played and enjoyed most of the silly mini games (which are very basic, but fun anyway)
Home is indeed something special and will be well worth the wait! It will put XBL to shame, I can honestly say that now, it's better than I originally thought. Btw, all Beta testers are under an agreement drawn up by Sony to not mention or show any of the features of Home to those not involved in the Beta, doing so can get you banned. I will keep saying this to prevent more people leaking vids like this. Home is being tested and isn't final, so by leaking footage all you'll do is put back development by Sony having to reply to demands by people not in the Beta asking questions. The urge to show off what Sony have accomplished is very strong for testers but please just keep Home within the Beta community, any upcoming updates should be kept confidential as well.
ever agreed more to a comment than I agree with this one.
we will see who gets invites tommorow
Monday =] By tomorrow, I think he meant a new week, apparently there starting the rest of the worlds beta from Monday onwards.
Need to stop showing footage of Home. Sony need to spend there time fixing it not rung around stopping videos from being shown and banding people because there could stick to the terms and agreements. If your in the beta and u are thinking of doing this don't because all this does is delay Sony's Plans and makes everyone else have to wait. just be happy are in the beta because if u continue this u sure wont be in it for much longer. And this is come from a beta tester.
The team that works on the 'game' and the legal team are completely different. The only way it could slow it down is if an overwhelming amount of people point something out they don't like, and then they try to correct it. Although, it may give the program some bad light, by over/undershooting the expectations presented by the features of this incomplete build :3
i mean can't not could*
I don't want to hear complaints that it looks like it it "plays" like crap, because some ignorant individual is too stupid to realize that this is a work in progress (hence the term BETA). Sony hasn't delayed this for nothing. They are trying to get it absolutely right because this is probably the biggest "IP" their gaming division has resting on their shoulders right now, other than LBP and Killzone 2 (in terms of anticipation and hype)
Thing is my friend - it doesn't 'play' at all. Its not a game.
That's why I put "Play" in quotations. It really doesn't play like a game at all, because it's not a game. There are some people out there that still fail to realize this fact, though, so that's why I had to write it as such.
I lost interest in Home months ago when they decided to delay it again. Even now Home looks to be...not that interesting. IMO, needs more zombies.
You'd rather have an unfinished, buggy, lackluster product if it means it can come out early. Well done, good sir! Hey, you can always blame the delay on the many people who had a negative opinion of HOME back when the very first beta-testing was going on....
No that's not what I'm saying, I'm saying Sony should of had been developing this a looooong time ago and had this crap finished a loooooong time ago. So you'd be happy if Sony tells you it's going to be delayed for another oh...3 years because they want to add more rooms? FOR WHAT?! They already said this wasn't a "social place" wtf? really? Sony? then wtf is this all for? Do you know how hard it is for me to convince my friends "Hey let's go hang out at the bowling alley, no not that one the one in HOME" OMG they'll laugh at me for ages. Nintendo and MS went the right course for this, they just added in simple retarded looking Miis because they know Gamers with GAMES are going to want to just hope in and PLAY THEIR GAMES. I'll hop in home decorate my room go to a few places BAM what next? More rooms? please. Like I said they need to give me a reason to keep coming back and what better than special events like zombies or some other crap. Oh and BTW did you hear how BORED OUT OF HER FREAKING MIND that chick sounded? Sounds like the typical HOME user after 2-3 hours of exploring. "Heres my couch.....you can sit down...." HAVE FUN SITTING DOWN ON YOUR VIRTUAL COUCH BECAUSE YOUR TRAILER PARK CAN'T FIT ONE.
You obviously dont understand the concept of innovation. Its really what the gaming industry needs right now. Home is a step in the right direction when it comes to social networking within gaming. The point of Home is NOT to go hang out with your friends at the Bowling Alley. Its a place where everyone on the Playstation Network can connect, socialize, and browse through content in a refreshing manner, rather than through a bunch of 2D menus. Please don't even make assumptions about how Home is when you havent even played it, and dont even understand the concept of Home. For the last time, ITS NOT A GAME. Its a social network for gamers. Simple as that.
ARE YOU POG EVIL TWIN, you sound like him. WOW the power to create multi accounts.
Home looks awesome.
Home is the facebook of pc and myspace i cant wait to get my hands on it
HOME is essentially Yahoogames/music.com; gamingsite forums like gamestrailers, gamespot IGN etc; N4G; Facebook & Myspace all rolled into one, offering 10X more features than they all do and injected with some serious steroids. Any gamer that uses any of the above services and says they won't be using HOME is just BSing themselves. I dare any core PS3 gamers NOT to have this installed and used on their PS3.
x box live is for gaming true Home is beyond Live its the next level of live and its a Big take over The only thing xbox will be used for now is maybe Halo and Gears 2 of the worst games i have ever played When people get round to Trying home xbox live will hit deaths doorstep.
i could see my friends dissing me for playing with furniture all day. but i guess i could see my friends not talking to me for playing with cartoon dolls on live. :/
The movie theatre looks amazing.Hell..it all looks amazing.I want in :(
Thought it was common knowledge that the finshed 'Home' would clock in at around 500Mb. Looks awesome.
i see with home is that there isn't enough choices when creating your appartment, like only few choices for chairs etc. But hopefully this will improve and alot more stuff added for customisation of appartments and people. - is only a beta like
Theres a limited feature set implimented yet - some options don't have even a single option and you can't put up photo frames or TV's yet. Also a lot of beta testers haven't visited all the stores and grabbed all the extra decor items that available there, which give you many more options. Currently, everything in the stores is free - including a nice summerhouse to go along with your appartment! My only gripe is that my toy robot won't stand up straight on my display cabinet without falling over!
Are you allowed to tell us if you can hang photos from your HDD up? If not, you should tell Sony they should. Videos from your HDD on your tv would be cool too.
"Are you allowed to tell us if you can hang photos from your HDD up? If not, you should tell Sony they should. Videos from your HDD on your tv would be cool too." Can't confirm the videos off the hard drive, but that was the intent many moons ago when Sony announced Home. I can confirm that photos did work from the HD, but can't say for sure as of this posting since we've had to re-install Home. I'd tell you more, but than I'd have to kill you, right? :P
Me want in!
I`m glad the loading on the clothing and stuff in the appartment was so low, hate it when that takes too long (like GTA4).
i cant wait for home integrating GTA call of duty warhawk and so on Then the 3d Trophies
PISS3 and there Avatars! How cute.
Microsuck and there Mii rip off avatars..How cute..
:( I didn't get into Home beta. I guess me playing mostly playing PS2 games offline didn't really help.
Home is looking really good. my favorite parts are the movie theater and the courtyard. The Courtyard kinda reminds me of City Walk in Universal Studios.
any people play COD4/gta4/ncaa football/ online ps3 add me project76dodo
Im gonna have a triple x theater at my home space. ^_^ Im joking. Or am I? 0_o
yes you can if they allow users to have their very own Home Theater in their home.
I think home will go beyond home like we will see a City with shops and u will be driving cars or taking transport even take a trip to a theme park to ride the roller coaster what would be fun lol Home is going to evolve on ps3 and into ps4
I have downloaded the HOME theme for USA and Japanese and I have downloaded over 80 plus games(demos) and PSN games and I play online alot..So I hope for the love of god I can get in..it seems pretty cool...but we will see... Will HOME be out before the year is over? I hope so but I have a feeling it may not..but we will see.. Kinda like life with PS3 it was suppose to be out at the end of last month and nothing happen... So my theory would be we may not see HOME till 2009........I so hope I am wrong...extremely wrong.
Originally in the Beta they allowed you to have pictures on the wall where you could put any pics from your hard drive on. The update before the current one they removed the feature. I don't know whether they are afraid people will put questionable pics up or for some other reason.
I want to see the room they designed for LBP. I think they might have a ranking of most played levels on there and being able to talk to people and share levels with others is going to be great.
umm mehh ..its better than nothing ..but still..i just don't dig the real person look..plus they move and run so damn ugly..hope they make something fun out of this ..not soo fun looking home
I'm guessing that this expanded beta test is gonna be a final step before Sony sets up an in-Home marketing scheme (how much should publishers pay for one of those movie posters? what about a similar poster in the arcade?). I really doubt that they're gonna let in only one type of gamer, since that wouldn't give them a lot of market data... they'll probably let in a bunch of hardcore gamers who spend a lot of time and money on the PSN, but I would be surprised if they also didn't invite some more casual gamers. So I don't think camping your PSN account is gonna help a whole lot when it comes to getting in... or maybe it will. I've been playing a ton of Bad Company just to be safe, heh.
I just think Home is a waste of time. If I wanted to decorate a room I could do that at my REAL home. I mean, all this stuff is kinda, meh.... It doesnt add any new features that I havent seen elsewhere. Photobucket, Flickr, Hulu, Myspace, Facebook, XBL etc. I can already watch movies, listen to my music, play online, sync my psp etc, etc on my PS3 right? Maybe its because I'm not into the whole second life craze (which tanked). I mean, who cares if an avatar can look outside or sit in a chair. What does any of that have to do with gaming? This just really gets away from the whole idea of online gameplay a little. Seems like it adds extra steps to online gameplay that just arent necessary or particularly wanted/needed. To each his own tho. I just think the big 3 need to focus more on quality games and actual online play, you know the meat and potatoes. The actual reason people spend their money on PS3, Wii and 360. Cuz I doubt if anybody is buying either system because of avatars.
I think Im probably going to enjoy Xbox 360s new dashboard than this honestly. Home will be a great addition to PS3 though. I just like the fact having your own created character to communicate with friends outside of the game. Well now you will be able to do that on every console. But being able to stay connected with friends online, and now be able to chat to up to 8 friends while playing different game excites me. I think Microsofts update is way more professional and shows that Xbox Live has the best online service out of all the consoles. Both Home and the new Xbox 360 dashboard have great potential. But whats realy going to help them with that potential is whoever has more support. Right now in my mind Microsoft has the most support for the xbox 360.
The reason why home has more is the fact that it is a step up from just talking you have a character who is you. You have to ability to play games and such and you are able to meet and there. They might have 18 older rooms so you do not have to talk or play with little kids and everything
I was told a while back, warhawk room is complete, and a few of the others are too, just think alot of those rooms are locked, even to beta testers.
Only time will tell, there is alot of unexpected to be seen. But Im not going to enjoy Home as much though because I dont have any friends on PSN because the fact I hardly play my PS3. But maybe Home will open the world up a little bit more on PSN. But the im more hyped about the Xbox 360 dashboard because I can chat to 7 of my friends at the same time and play Fable 2 in pairs. Otherewise on the PSN I will be talking to no one while playing single player. The Xbox 360 dashboard is more than a doll house full of pool tables and cool scenery. Home sounds like a Sims online without the taking bath, making a family, owning a dog, and you know all the good stuff the sims has. Not saying it wont be fun, but after a month of playing in Home its going to be a little bummy feeling. As if sony has anything to show interesting on display anyway..... I'm sure watching killzone 2 trailers for the next 2 years will get boring lmao! Warhawk..... wtf wasnt that game a launch title? I own that game on ps3 and for real guys the game gets old. Go buy Battle field bad company for ps3 or 360. Now that I own a ps3 the only thing that makes mehappy about it is that i can call sony fanboys out on anything so you guys dont waste your time.
