While many people were shocked to find out that Grasshopper's next title would be published by Electronic Arts, the second major announcement of the day was less of a surprise. Rumors of an EA/Epic partnership had been floating around the gaming stratosphere for a few weeks, so the only real question was whether one of the North Carolina-based developer's leaders would appear. Sure enough, Dr. Mike Capps strode on stage to formally announce the partnership, although he didn't give the crowd much information on what sort of game we could expect."
As of right now, there are no monopolies in the games industry, and for the sake of the medium as a whole, they never should either.
And yet the biggest tech companies in America are essentially that. They buy up all the small comps only to kill them off and steal what they have, and if they can't buy em they bleed them to death.
