I probably took this game way to seriously, because lately, the level of indie games has been very high. Sadly, this “browser game on Steam” cannot compete with other platformers of the same price.

Stone Tales is one of those titles that shows how an indie developer or team can do some really cool things because they have the freedom to experiment. However, at the end of the day, this is one of those titles that comes up lacking due to a handful of issues that are impossible to completely ignore. The end result is a game that I found myself feeling decidedly neutral about when it concluded.

In the early days of man, our ancestors inscribed stories of their lives and inspiring tales by painting them on walls and in caves. We’ve learned a lot about how they lived through these works of primitive art, yet their presence outside of these historical artefacts has been reserved for documentaries and occasionally film and TV. Through this style, Stone Tales tries to tell its tale of two fledgling warriors, but sadly comes up short.

From Indie studios Yellow Worm and Black Shell Media comes the cute little adventure-platformer, Stone Tales. What is immediately distinct to all who come across this platformer is its primitive art style. While this made for an interesting thematic choice, audiences might also be surprised to hear that Stone Tales was based on actual, historical cave paintings.
