Need for Speed | HD8bit Review

Matt @ HD8bit writes: "Street lights become a blur, your motor hums over sirens from impending police cruisers that grow louder behind you. The turbo spools, and with a quick grab of the e-brake smoke bellows from the tires and you are bouncing on the limiter entering a two lane side street. As you correct the drift, you find yourself inches away from oncoming traffic, but as you pass the final checkpoint and clutch victory, you realize that Need for Speed has a lot of potential... however falls just short of reaching the gear it’s capable of getting to."

NFS is a sham now day's from it's glory day's .
I don't think Andrew Wilson care neither Marcus Nilsson of Ghost games studio . one is the puppet producing a product satisfying the other while one pleasing EA investors .
therefore we die-hard nfs fans SUFFER from half-ass burnout for speed combination /wtf it is for speed syndrome .

thank you Andrew Wilson and Marcus Nilsson for blending and combining Highstakes,Mostwanted,Hotpursu it 2, Underground 2 all in one game . with unwanted alldrive, autolog . with latest garbage "always online" feature to play the game , without being online you can't play the DAMN game .

EA investors you did a excellent job discouraging your main ol skool fan base that support this franchise . hope EA investors lost million for this crapfest reboot .

I concur the last several entries (since pro-street IMO), have been on the downslope.

This entry is the best in a decade, in my honest opinion.

If you have yet to play it, I would urge you to try.

It isn't back to its roots, but this is the first entry in a long while that I feel made an upturn back to the right direction.

i'll tell you why i have yet to try the reboot yet .
The first 8 NFS (including 3DO version was awesome. 7 nfs on ps1 every title was fun. now ps2 title's rolls around what we get?? HOTPURSUIT 2 of all nfs this title owns ALL rest nfs title's to this date. then came Underground that was fast and furious style racing , i believe all it needed was instant re-play and cops. then came Underground 2 imo it was ok never finished it. then came Carbon some parts was crazy cool but racing down a mountain and drifting same time turned me off from Carbon. then came Pro-sucking streets that alone tell you how bad it was . Mostwanted (Blackbox studio) version was great NFS and Shift 1/2 those were the last NFS i tolerated , now here comes Undercover,The Run, nfs tool kit taken from Blackbox studio offered to crapfest Criterion games what did they do?? in 3 games they destroy nfs image with burnout version of HOTPURSUIT and Mostwanted, Rival . they change the soul or formula of NFS into Burnout for speed. if that was'nt bad enough here comes monster Rival pieces of highstakes, hotpursuit, porsche unleash another all in one game in Rival you and a online buddy suppose to be able to connect and race right??? true if you able to find your friend . then come (Ghost game studio) with the GREATEST lie of them all
nfs will go back to it's "ROOTS" as in old skool style EA Canada / Blackbox studio style racing . instead we get rebooted burnout for speed with "must always be online to start the game" including alldrive, autolog .... for those reasons hd8bit
i did not fall for lie (HYPE) as i did believing Rival was the rebirth of NFS this LAME ass reboot proved my point still (Craptastic)

I can't believe they gave it a 3.38. I think it was a 3.37 all the way. I can't figure out what they were thinking!

HD8bit3447d ago

Haha, it was totally a 3.38, 3.37 would have been an undercut!

;)

For what it's worth, our review score is the mathematical equivalent of our 4 review categories - which is why you will see more decimal answers than most sites.

Thanks for making me laugh!

underground 1 and 2 are still the best ones.

isarai175d ago

And they're spent every game after that trying to chase that high and never meeting it

Ninver175d ago

Makes you think if gamers are looking to relive nostalgia or each dev that has attempted to mimic the glory days are just incompetent?

DarXyde175d ago

Truth. Loved Midnight Club.

I wouldn't be mad at another proper Underground or Most Wanted (PS2/X360) entry though.
