Assassin's Creed history with Egypt goes back to an even earlier leak

GR:
After yesterday's news that we might just get an Assassin's Creed game set in Egypt in 2017, it's time to do some time travelling without the need for an Animus or the Helix. Cast your Eagle Vision back to 2012 and consider the below screenshot that was apparently leaked from Ubi. At the time we thought it was a Prince Of Persia reboot - see the POP description at the bottom that sent us all into a frenzy - but even then we thought it was hella like Assassins.

Hmmm, if they are actually working on this Assassins Creed since 2012, i might consider getting it day 1 because of the amount of time and effort that went into it and also because of its in Egypt :3

cemelc3443d ago

I wonder why do you believe those time statements?

The only real thing you know about AC is that it comes yearly.

DarkOcelet3443d ago

Well, the picture is from 2012, so even if it came in 2016, that means they spent 4 years working on it so they have put effort into it.

AlphaCentyros3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

Well... the development time for AC Unity was also 4 years, and we all know that turned out :P

Regardless, if the rumors are true I'll be a very happy AC fanboy once again. I've waited for an AC in Egypt since AC2, it would be an instant buy for me too!

Bdub20003443d ago

If Ubisoft gains everyone's trust back because a photo from 2012 resembles/foretold a future release, then God help us all. Gaming is doomed.

pinkcrocodile753442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

Egypt is fine, however if they are rebooting it to start in Ancient Egypt, then we have a problem because the Templars were a Christian order and hense were created after Christianity became an organised religion.

The bible was written in 325AD at the Council of Nicea presided over by the pagan emperor Constantine I. So we are looking at something new in regards to the Antagonist of the plot.

This could mean a very differnt game to all that came before and with it some serious new life be introduced.

I for one am very excited, it's much better than reports of an AC in Japan, thats the last thing we need, a quick jump forward in histroy bring us to Japan's invasion of China or Japan's Invasion of the Pacific... either way Japan would look like a bunch of B@st**ds (which at the time they were).

Ancient Egypt, is a genius stroke that will inspire gamers across the console divide in equal measure!.

When you think of Ancient Egypt is bring up a wealth of stories and huge long lasting dynasties that can be wolrked into a multitude of games. They could introduce background narratives that include some of the old testament like the plagues of Egypt.

One other bonues is that it would sate the moron bible bashers in America. I don't believe in god because... well I'm not a moron. But for the religious crazy's in the US some background narritives wopuld be brilliant.

I personally would love to see something like

The Adventures of Sinuhe

The story of Sinuhe - an official of Pharaoh's court who goes on the run when the king is assassinated.

DragonKnight3442d ago

@PinkCrocodile: You have to remember that AC lore holds that the Assassins and the Templars existed in various names and forms well before they were finally referred to as Assassins or Templars. So that the Templars are actually a Christian Order is irrelevant to the lore of the series as they easily could just call them something else prior to calling them Templars. Also, I disagree that Japan is the last thing the series needs. Fans have been clamoring for Japan since AC2. And who cares how any group looks. If Japan looks like b@$tards in the game, it's historically accurate. You can't change history so too bad for Japan.

At least, that's how it should be, but we all know what happened with AC3 and how Ubisoft are afraid of the PC Police these days.

Genuine-User3443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

I'll get it purely on its setting and The Witcher's influence.

DarkOcelet3443d ago

I read that they want to compete with Witcher 3, if this is true, then they will have to up their game.

Genuine-User3442d ago

That's what the rumours say.

My dream AC game would be a mixture of:

Assassins Creed parkour
Bloodborne combat
The Witcher's grand scale and interaction

WellyUK3442d ago

needs a way longer dev cycle if they want to be any where near Witcher 3 quality.

DarkOcelet3443d ago

POP game in an Ancient Egypt would be cool. But i think this fits Assassins Creed style more.

iNcRiMiNaTi3442d ago

Assassin's Creed 1 started out as a Prince of Persia game called Prince of Persia: Assassins

oasdada3442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

Yes it would... but with multiple itterations and filler games Assassins creed has become more of a controversial game if anything else. Hope its prior reputation doesnt crush its potential. Agree with foxtrot, it should just be called assassins creed if they really want to go for the AC brand

Grayson0763443d ago

You're from Egypt, right DarkOcelot?

-Foxtrot3442d ago

I'm hoping this is a reboot. They should drop the Empire bit and just call it Assassins Creed.

Egypt is the perfect place to start the new games timeline and if they re-work the first civilisation thing it could really link to Egypt well.

Khaotic3442d ago

I agree I havnt played this franchise since the second game in the series, if this is true i will consider this one heavily.

Kalebninja3443d ago

Wasn't this rumored to be for a game called Osiris where you were going to play as a god of death?

lashes2ashes3443d ago

Yep. First it was a reboot of prince of Persia then it was Osiris now some of it has reportedly been worked into next years assassins creed.

syotos773443d ago (Edited 3443d ago )

I'd be much more interested in this game than another assassin's creed personally.

Edit: even as much as I would enjoy an Egyptian setting.

Relientk773443d ago

If the next Assassins Creed game is in Egypt, I am totally getting it.

Ezz20133443d ago

Yeah,i'm with you
i want to know who will assaniate my pharaoh grandfather. :P

DEEBO3443d ago

If assassin's creed white wash Egypt/ Africa like all these movies do then i will be so disappointed.

Hercules1893443d ago

Well nobody truly know what the Egyptians truly looked like, and there's not enough A list actors that fit what they were depicted as. But they were mostly middle eastern with a mix of other Europeans cause it was an extremely popular destination.

DEEBO3443d ago

1St you say nobody really knows then you say they are middle eastern?

What does science tells us?

It's hard for me to trust anything men say cause most lie and change history and just cause some people live in egypt doesn't mean they where from there.

XabiDaChosenOne3442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

"Well nobody truly know what the Egyptians truly looked like"
"But they were mostly middle eastern with a mix of other Europeans"
:-/...
Plenty of eyewitness evidence from historians of that time that provide physical descriptions of the Egyptians. (which is the Greek term for the state, it was referred to as Kemet by the natives)
@DEEBO
I have a strong feeling they will unfortunately.

Carlogambino3442d ago

Lol smh, you guys need to stop this shit. The real Egyptians were black sorry to burst your bubble. Arabs invaded and raped the women that's why they look and live there now. Statues show it, paintings show it, just stop. they were black get over it

343_Guilty_Spark3442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

Greeks referred to them as Black. Their paintings show a brown to dark brown complexion. Before their noses were defaced on a plethora of statues depicted them as having wider noses. This is in contrast to the modern Egyptians who are more fair skin, perhaps descents of the Arabic people's who counquered Egypt after the fall of Egypts great dynastys.

I hope Ubisoft doesn't the right thing but I'm not very hopeful.

Mkai283442d ago (Edited 3442d ago )

Indeed, it was said that the nose of the statues were shot off by Napoleon and his army because of the black features.. He refused to believe that Africans had an advanced civilization. Even the walls show dark skinned ppl on them. Women with dread locks in their hair, what race has locks?

If you prove that the Egyptians were of African descent, this opens doors to a lot of other things.. Here is something to think about, the people in the bible. Hebrews such as Joseph, and Moses. How could they be mistaken for being Egyptian?

@Carligambino, yep African Arab slave trade.

sandMan1233442d ago

There were 4 diffrents kind of people in anciant egypt
Nubians-which were slaves in the start and then rose for couple of years
Libyans- which were the great fathers of the north africans
Hyksos/jews- immigrents in egypt
the originals- were brown, olivish so not black but certainly not white with green eyes.
for preference egypt is middle east and north africa, just look at Marocons there not black aswell the Algerians so they were probably brownish, olivish and there were whites and black aswell so there you go mate

sullynathan3443d ago

It's obviously prince of Persia. It even says POP in the picture.

DarkOcelet3443d ago

Well, you do realize that the first Assassins Creed was suppose to be the next installment in Prince Of Persia but they scrapped that.

So i would be surprised if this became Assassins Creed Empire after it was a Prince Of Persia game.

Why the Modern Day Plot is Vital to Assassin's Creed

Fans attribute Assassin's Creed's problems to a number of key issues. There were certainly some frustrating moments plus at times, some glaring technical issues. And a lot of blame is placed on the series' modern day components.

But the modern day plot in Assassin's Creed is exactly what makes the series so fantastic.

I cant be arsed to read another article about ac but the response to the headline is obvious: Without the modern day element its just a stealth game. It has to have the modern day element to be part of ac on my opinion. I think they've strayed a bit in the last few games for that reason.
