Herbalistic3451d ago (Edited 3451d ago )

The game looks good but based on the latest gameplay it could use some extra polish..i'd rather Platinum delay the the project instead of pushing it out half done.

MightyNoX3451d ago

The Gamescom demo was rough.

Bansai3451d ago

Well I hope they polish it good and make it solid 30 fps, they definitely have time now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Genuine-User3451d ago (Edited 3451d ago )

This was Bound to happen.

Anyone? :p

On a more serious note, this is most definetly for the best.

OpieWinston3451d ago

Well the IGN extended demo was a lot smoother than the live Gamescom demo. Idk why, probably because of the stream or just certain circumstances.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...
The FPS drops aren't that noticeable.

JorboTron3451d ago

A game of this scale? It was bound to happen

xer03450d ago

Not even Q3 or Q4 2016.
They are talking 2017!? Woah! :(

dirkdady3450d ago

I know a lot of folks called it. They even showed gameplay.

Now who has dibs on Recore a game they have yet to show any gameplay.

Outside_ofthe_Box3450d ago

Haha, Jorbro one-upped Genuine

lol

nix3450d ago

When i saw 2017.. I was like "Two freaking years..?" then i realised it's already 2016.

mikeslemonade3450d ago

2017 is PS5!

As long as platinum games ditched Nintendo platforms I'm fine.

never4get3450d ago

This is so Unreal, 4 years development time, this better be Grand Theft Auto Scale JRPG with multiple playable character.

zeuanimals3450d ago (Edited 3450d ago )

@NeverForget: Plenty of games get 4 years of development, especially these days when games are much harder to make. Calm down. Lol

Mr Pumblechook3450d ago

Yes it's always better to delay a game for quality control purposes. But such a big delay is significant. It means the either they were never going to hit 2016 but pressure from Microsoft made them give that date at the reveal. Or their have been major problems with the development. Colin Moriarty said on one of his podcasts that he thinks Platinum Games are spreading themselves too thin because they are developing multiple games. Fingers crossed the final product is good.

Freedomland3450d ago

Sometimes delay is good but 2017, come on man.

bouzebbal3450d ago (Edited 3450d ago )

i agree with this.. It was very average, especially the animations.
Good idea they give it more time.

"A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad"

Erm... Duke Nukem waves "hi" to you

Godmars2903451d ago

Revengence also says "hi".

It is just as bad to announce a title too soon since its likely to be rushed if not canceled. Something that happened way too many time with early PS3 and 360 games.

lelo2play3451d ago

@Phoenix76, killer_goat, Godmars290

Apparently you guys don't know the meaning of the word "eventually".

3450d ago
BG115793450d ago

This doesn't mean anything over the quality of the game.
A lot of games are delayed and turn out to be good. It may also turn out to be bad.
But people should not cast a judgment until the game is out and is played.

pandehz3450d ago

Ermm Last Guard.. oh wait thats not even..

Outside_ofthe_Box3450d ago

lol so you guys rather the game release at the scheduled time guaranteed incomplete?

How about this:

"A delayed game has the potential to turn out great, but a rushed game is forever bad"?

3450d ago
uth113450d ago

Driveclub was not rushed, it got delayed for a whole year

DragonbornZ3450d ago

Whenever I see this saying on other articles it gets tons of agrees and positive comments. Evrytime.

But nope, not here apparently lol.

And here come the flood of 2016 games getting delayed... Sure it's great they are taking more time since it's needed but I can't but help feel disappointed"..

mark_parch3450d ago

almost glad to hear this to many games on ps4 and xbox one this year

IamTylerDurden13450d ago

I realize the game has looked pretty bad recently, but this is a bit of a disappointment. In the end it's always better to have more time for polish but with the likely delay of Recore and now Scalebound the xbone 2016 lineup is considerably weaker.

Considering the very real possibility that Scalebound, Recore, and Gears 4 will all be delayed (until 2017) it leaves a pretty shabby 2016 for xbone. Gears 4 is currently slated for Q4 2016 and Recore has yet to show gameplay.

jb2273450d ago

I could see Recore getting delayed (there's already no chance of a Spring release, but maybe it misses the year entirely according to have ambitious it is), but Gears will hit its target no matter what. Seems like MS is allowing for delays on third party exclusives, but their first parties will ship regardless of the state. We already saw the MCC ship w/ a broken mp & maybe a delay would've helped 343 do something more w/ their campaign. I'd say Gears will hit no matter what. Crackdown would be the most likely AAA first party not to ship this year simply because they've only ever dated the beta for summer & never given a concrete release window for the game proper. It's gonna take a lot of betas & testing to get a game w/ that kind of ambition ready for release, I could see that one slipping to Spring 2017 for its full release.

DLConspiracy3450d ago

Well keep in mind this was Pre Alpha footage we looked at. So it was early early on.

Also I wouldn't worry about their 2016 line up. We don't know what they have kept in their back pocket yet. 2015 wasn't exactly the best lineup for either consoles but we got a few really good games on both consoles to get us by.

Letthewookiewin3450d ago

Ya called it when the dude ran and didn't touch the ground.

lxeasy3450d ago

Agreed this is the game they've always wanted to make so I want them to get as much time as they need to deliver an amazing game!

Sevir3450d ago

I've looked online and nowhere did they or MS say this would launch in time for 2016, and as cool the gamescon demo looked, it ran rather poorly and needed plenty of polish. When they announced this game I knew this was a 2017 game...

MS has plenty set for this year so it's no big deal.

4 days in to the new year and we already got our first delay. Game developers need to stop announcing release windows and dates so early.

freshslicepizza3451d ago

they will never learn though because games need to be advertised way in advance, especially new ip's in a aaa market.

this is why i was just saying the other day about all these 2016 list wars and all the hype. until the end of the year is when we know what we got because delays happen every year and we are just starting 2016. they likely knew it was going to be a 2017 date but wanted to wait until the holiday rush was over.

i expect more games to follow on various platforms. it's inevitable.

rainslacker3450d ago (Edited 3450d ago )

@Moldy

Announcing a game, and giving a release date 12-24 months in advance do not have to go hand in hand. Nothing wrong with giving a release date when the publishers know it will be ready for release, and let the hype build up ahead of time.

Granted, I do think announcing a game more than 2 years out is overkill, but I think being a new generation with some heated competition has also put more pressure on the system's 1st party publishing team to make it appealing for both parties. For publishers like Ubisoft, they have no excuse.

green3451d ago

Completely agree. If game developers know that they are not going to be ready to ship between 12 to 18 months max, then do not announce it.

SlightlyRetarted3451d ago

They should announce release date when devs move to the polishing stage. And start releasing trailers way, way later than a lot of devs do right now.

uth113451d ago

yes, if you wait until then to cut trailers, you won't get all this "downgrade" crying. With early trailers you aren't even looking at gameplay, you are looking at what they hope gameplay will look like.

MegaRay3451d ago

I hope Neir dont get delayed :(

Paytaa3451d ago

I much prefer the Fallout 4 approach where the game is formally announced 5 months before launch.

rainslacker3450d ago

I don't mind teasers, or even trailer glimpses before that, but when they start showing stuff 2 years out as if it's right around the corner it's just annoying. Particularly for exclusive because it means we have to hear about how it's going to be the best thing ever for the next two years, then the inevitable 2 months of, "It's a disappointment" after it releases. After two years hearing about a game, I more often than not don't even care anymore.

kraenk123450d ago

Not sure if the blame is entirely on the game developers. I bet the console manufacturers use some pressure too cause they want something to show on those big conferences.

jb2273450d ago

Totally agree..this gen is lousy with them. We've been optimistic w/ the whole "gotta give games time to be good" spiel & that's true, but on the opposite end, publishers & devs & marketing need to be taken to task a little bit over these current trends.

Last gen had nowhere near the delays and they were working on hardware that was much more difficult to code for (at least in the PS3s case), so I honestly don't understand all of the hold ups this gen. Unless devs are getting lazier or worse at game design, it can only be down to shady marketing tactics. We know these companies are guilty of it, the Phantom Dust team already relayed their marketing horror story of an experience w/ Ms, and Kamiya himself had nothing nice to say about MS marketing on twitter before Scalebounds Gamescom appearance, not to mention the entire Machinima scandal..Not saying that MS are the only guilty parties, just the main ones who've had their dirty laundry aired to the public.

Seeing delays after delays to games just kinda kills the hype for me, which is the opposite of what good marketing should do. I'm one of the biggest Uncharted fans you're likely to meet, but my hype dies a bit w/ every delay, because history has shown me that I can't count on getting my hopes up to play games & support devs w/ my hard earned dollars because I know the dates are just going to slip again.

ULTp0ltergeist3450d ago

Yes, Phil tweeted on about how they will improve on that since he has taken over. Which has me thinking that the announcement of Recore wasn't a mistake nor forced. If anything I really think Recore is launching next year.

Sevir3450d ago

Pretty sure Record has been delayed as well. There's no way that's making a 2016 spring launch, there has been zero press.

Simply put Record will be a spring 2017 game

Hideki Kamiya wants to revive Scalebound: 'Let's do it, Phil'

Hideki Kamiya is still interested in developing Scalebound, after the PlatinumGames and Microsoft action game was cancelled back in 2017.

ZwVw104d ago

He's been begging for the past three years. That ship has long sailed. Besides, Phil's a fake. When's the last time he delivered on a game the fans asked for? Still waiting on him to greenlight KI4.

InUrFoxHole103d ago

@8bit
Yeah I mentioned that below. Although in comparison concord was a bigger failure.

MetroidFREAK21104d ago

I mean I'm all for it... I'd buy it for PS5 since Xbox is doing these multiplatform releases now

MetroidFREAK21103d ago

Well, I vastly prefer physical versions of games, and I can't do that with my Series S... sooooooo assume what you will

Lexreborn2104d ago

Scalebound was my reasoning for buying and Xbox one. Legit my biggest let down last gen

raWfodog103d ago

Same here. That was going to be the game I'd buy a Xbox One for back in the day. It'd be good if they did revive it and improve on what they had at the time.

Chocoburger104d ago

Seems odd to be asking for it now that he left Platinum Games. He'll be busy with Okami 2 for a number of years, does he expect to develop the game at Clovers studio now? Would they be picking up where they left off, or starting over again? Any of the previous team members, or just him?

I doubt Phil would fund it again, but if so, then that would be good news, also fund a new Banjo as well as Conker games while you're at it. I miss Conker!

Michiel1989104d ago

doesn't seem odd at all, he'd want work and that game even though it suffered some bad press with the cancellation and stuff is still something that people want to see (i think)

Can someone like SEGA offer to buy the studio at this point?

BlaqMagiq1131d ago

Even if they buy them, they'd be buying a shell of a studio at this point. Almost everyone that mattered to the studio is gone.

CrimsonWing69131d ago

Never a good sign. They lost Hideki Kamiya, which was arguably the top tier of their talent list. So, seeing this is like the writing on the wall. They got Ninja Gaiden 4 coming, so hopefully that’ll deliver and keep them going.

PhoenixRising37131d ago

Hopefully this doesn't affect Ninja Gaiden 4 too much.
