Shovel Knight amiibo Review

IG:
Shovel Knight is definitely one of the most entertaining games of 2015 and with the release of the game on the Nintendo Wii U, you can now buy the amiibo for it! By using the Shovel Knight amiibo, it actually unlocks a brand new mode for the game which is … CO-OP!

Is this the only way to play Co-op? What is this BS!?

Co-OP should not be a locked content that can only be used by buying some stupid toy.

LOL_WUT3187d ago

Amiibos is the new "DLC" I thought you knew by now? Had this been Ubisoft people would be boycotting these a long time ago... ;)

Summons753187d ago

It was never in the game to begin with...

DivineAssault 3187d ago

I hope i can find this when it releases.. Its really bogus that they lock out options like that though..

Pookandpie3187d ago

There was already a huge free update in Plague of Shadows. The co-op mode was never originally in the game, either.

I'm fine with them getting paid off of an agreement with Nintendo to make more great stuff for an amazing game.

Normally when a game releases later on other systems, they add stuff to it though.. Or at least they used to

Pookandpie3186d ago (Edited 3186d ago )

@Divine Assault

What are you talking about? The game released at the end of 2014 on Windows, 3DS/WiiU, and then came out on PS3/PS4/Vita/Xbox One at the beginning of 2015 (April, I think).

The Plague of Shadows update didn't come out until September 2015, and it came out on all of its respective platforms for free.

So they did add stuff when they released it later on other systems- they just did so for *all* of the systems on which the game released (what, are you upset you didn't get exclusive PS4/Xbox One content or something?). I'm seeing no problem here, since they gave away a whole new character to play as (who plays wholly different from Shovel Knight, mind you) on every platform, meaning they did exactly as you said. Yet you're speaking as if they didn't, for some reason.

Reviewing an Amiibo? I'm sorry, but NO!

As a Huge Nintendo Fan, I'm Worried I Just Wasted Thousands of Dollars

TNS: "A decade after my amiibo obsession began, it's time I admit that Nintendo's toys-to-life lineup didn't pan out the way I hoped it would."

I own some amiibo for the plastic toy collection aspect. If you feel like you wasted your money on them, then let that be a lesson for you.

Profchaos36d ago

Tldr he over invested in amibo thinking that toys to life would have resulted in some grand Nintendo cross over rpg.

However Nintendo never said they were doing that instead it was the writer who got carried away with the possibility rather than the reality

Why would Nintendo spend millions developing a game that only a small percentage of switch owners can play

phoenixwing36d ago

There's tons of legit reasons to hate on Nintendo but the writer of this article didn't choose one

porkChop36d ago

Amiibo are basically just physical DLC with a toy collection aspect. The in-game bonuses/effects can sometimes be cool, like Wolf Link in BotW. But overall Nintendo really could have better utilized amiibo.

jznrpg36d ago

Thinking plastic toys would be much more than plastic toys is on you. Sure you get a small bonus effect but it should have been obvious that it was basically a toy that comes with a dlc. Nintendo is good at making money off of inexpensive items. They are still selling cardboard for good money

As a Nintendo fanboy, I admit they are too scummy but this is not scummy, Nintendo sold figures with some functionality, and that's what they are, figures that you can use with some games, I don't know where the idea came from that they are the gateway to some avengers endgame scenario, where you use everything you have owned
