Kotaku writes: "The PlayStation brand had a pretty darn good month, as it continues to cool off from strong Metal Gear Solid 4 sales, with over 600,000 things named PlayStation sold in the U.S. last month. Sony Computer Entertainment America responded to those NPD figures today, citing "strong momentum" - one of our favorite intangibles - and flooding us with growth percentages.
The first percentage of note is the 99% year-to-date hardware sales growth of the PS3. SCEA also wows us with a 206% figure, which one can apply to year-to-date software sales on that platform. Stop! We're already getting dizzy!"
GB: "With this feature, we will be taking a look at 15 of the best games from the PlayStation 2's vast library."
Plenty of unforgettable games have completely messed up their players throughout the years, all the way back from the PS1 days to the dark recesses of the modern internet.
With so many games fighting for players' attention and interest losing out over time, time sink games are at risk of eventually losing steam.
It was worrisome to begin with.
It's a niche genre with only a handful of hits that can stand the test of time.
Only a few will catch on. You need a perfect storm to be successful in GaaS and a bit of luck on top of that. But a potential cash cow will keep them trying and some will go out of business because of it.
Helldivers 2 manages just fine…
Keep production costs low… don’t just make custscenes until the mechanics and enemies are perfected first.
Make so much content that you can drip extra content for years, and the game already feels complete without them.
Most importantly: make weapons, enemies, levels, and mechanics that will stand the test of 1000 hours. This might require more devs embracing procedurally generated leveled, which I think separates Helldivers 2 from Destiny’s repetitiveness.
seems to always talk down on Sony. Sony is just stating facts from the NPD.
they consistently hate on the ps3.....in fact they just hate games and gamers fullstop on all formats. They should be ignored like vgchartz because they bring nothing to the table.
Mike Myers made 'Austin powers' and it was funny back in the day just like bukaku were but now he churns out crap like the 'love guru' .........its old, it has the same people in it including the small guy and we're bored and ultimately its just not 'funny' anymore
Kotaku is a joke
Spin it the way you want, Kotaku, the fact is Sony won again this month and neither your crappy website nor Microsoft can do anything against it.
