Until Dawn, and Then Some

Critics at Large: It’s winter. You and six friends are vacationing at a friend’s remote cottage when tragedy strikes: two of your friends, twin sisters, disappear in the woods under suspicious circumstances, never to be seen again. Exactly one year later, their older brother invites you all back to the cottage to carry on partying in spite of his sisters’ absence, claiming he’s “over it.” Do you go? Most would politely decline, recognizing such a bizarre request as being, at the very least, in poor taste and, at worst, a cry for help. Good horror stories are not built on common sense, however, and Until Dawn’s seven protagonists unanimously pull on their winter gear and march up the mountains of Alberta to indulge their grieving buddy, unaware of the danger waiting for them.

Allow me to summarize the article...

"In the vein of Heavy Rain, and the QTE movie games comes Until Dawn. Another beautiful game with limited gameplay designed to have pretty graphics and little else to get in the way. If you loved Myst, you'll love this!"

I'm sure people enjoy the game, but honestly these types have me bored to tears. Beautiful graphics though, just little end

? Don't play them then. I mean...consider Myst wasn't this FPS, RPG, deep skill tree type game.

It was never made to actually be that, thus with the point and click adventure genre being what it is, why expect this to be something different if you don't even like the genre's concept?

Its as simple as don't play it. Its not your genre of choice. That is like me playing an MMO, then saying the grinding, constant need to link up with other players to complete a quest had me "bored to tears".

Sooooooooooo you don't know what the genre entails?

I believe this is called a content section, so I commented my opinion on the game. If you don't like my opinion, then follow your own advice and don't read it.

"I believe this is called a content section"

......

Explains quite a lot, really, really does.

One of the best games of 2015. Gamers will be talking about this game for years to come.

Will they? Will they really? I guess the rest of the world missed all the "buzz" with this one.

I'm confused. Did they contribute to the writing of the movie?

darthv7261d ago

I think the game writes should be glad... the movie is not that good. Its connection to the game is in name only.

Until Dawn Remake.

Saved you a click.

OtterX64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

Boring. The original was a decent game, but not something worth revisiting. I guess this is alright for anyone who never played the original.

Now, Rush of Blood should have been the real priority for a remake on PSVR2.

Until Dawn remake, Death Stranding, and a random PS4 game?

Until Dawn was already a PS Plus game! And not even that long ago.
The fact that JUST BECAUSE an Until Dawn movie just released in theaters so SONY trying to push the name is not right for us long time subscribers.

CrimsonWing6964d ago

I mean, technically it’s the Remake. It’s possible that many missed out on the PS4 one when it was a PS+ game. I actually was interested to see what this one is like, but had no intention of buying it, so that’s a plus for me… pun intended.

There's too many games to choose from

No Metal geat solid 1,2,3,4?
No Resident evil?
No Silent hill?
No Midnight club 3?
No NfS Underground 2?
No Final Fantasy?
No Burnout 3?
No Dragon quest 8?
No Days gone?
No Ace combat?
No Tekken/Soul calibur?......
just from the top of my head

PS1 era was full of great RPGs, PS2 was racing generation i would pick top 200 and even that would be just a fraction.

FinalFantasyFanatic217d ago

30 is way too low over the entire history of Playstation, I just wouldn't be able to narrow it down that much, I would pick 100 at least.

Storm23217d ago

Yeah...really odd list. I get that it is personal preference and I love most of the games listed, but my list would definitely be different. I agree though, it would be incredibly difficult to come up with just 30.

lockedongamer1217d ago (Edited 217d ago )

I only picked first-party titles. Otherwise, I agree!

EDIT: Except for Days Gone, I don't get the love for it but you do you!

Chocoburger208d ago

I didn't like Days Gone either, it doesn't deserve to be on any best of list.
