Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio Producer Teruyuki Toriyama was deeply involved in Bloodborne, and in Soul Sacrifice before. Yet, he’s not going to rest on his laurels.
Developers and Producers from the Japanese arm of Sony Interactive Entertainment tease their projects for 2018 and beyond.
I would be interested in these mobile games if they had trophies ♡ I travel a lottttt for work, earning trophies on the go would be amazing ♡♡♡♡ As it stands though, I'm not interested in mobile games.
What happened to Japanese game developers suck..? So far they are knocking it out of the park.
Media spin is such bull crap.
Anyone remember the game industry bull crap some years back about western games being so much better?
my only problem with this is the investment in Mobile...seriously who gives a **** about mobile games other than the Japanese?? We're here for console AAA games not baby games nor cheap indies.
i could care less abut mobile games but what planet are you living on? the world's casual gamers outnumber us and their drug of choice is mobile gaming. that part of the industry is most likely the easiest way to make money if you get a game that gets lit.
@kalkano: would you rather spend upwards of 100 million on a AAA game and take a risk or 100k and take the risk? Plus Sony has been making a lot of AAA games so t's ok f they want to invest n mobile.
Looks like the folks at Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio are working hard on some surprises for next year, as mentioned by its team of Producers in 4Gamer‘s traditional year end mass interview, where developers were asked to provide their outlook for 2017.
My reaction to this was like "F....!!! even MORE unnanounced games??" I sincerely thought this year was going to be more about showing all the games we are anxiously waiting to know more, games Like:
- God Of War
- Detroit: Become Human
- Wild
- The Last Of Us: Part II
- Days Gone
- GT Sport
- Death Stranding
- Spider-Man
- Mlb: The Show 2017
- Knack 2
- Dreams
- Wipeout
Even more games, wow.
And I'm not even counting exclusive third party games for the system, like Shenmue 3, Ni No Kuni II, Nier, Nioh, FFVII, FFXII, Ace Combat 7, Persona 5 and many more.
EDIT: Remembered more games:
- Nex Machina (Housemarque)
- Matterfall (Housemarque)
- Hot Shots Golf
- What Remains of Edith Finch
Persona 5
Gravity rush 2
Kingdom Hearts 2.647337
Yakusa 0 and 5
Nioh
Neir 2
Tails of berseria
Horizon <--(how don't you have this on your list??)
Crash bandicoot
@Kingtrash360
I didn't mention neither Horizon or Gravity Rush 2 because they release early 2017, I was trying to say that I thought that next year Sony would only speak about already announced games like the ones In my post, but no, they are going to announce even MORE new games.
We still need to see what Sucker Punch is working on, and just remembered Nex Machina and Matterfall from Housemarque, you can add those 2 to the list
Add..
Hellblade
Uncharted Lost Legacy
The Forest
Pyre
Crossing Souls
Hob
Farpoint (VR)
Death's Gambit
Eitr
Sundered
Rain World
Night in the Woods
Vane
Strafe
Drawn to Death
Lol I'm going poor here! Sooooooo many games
Sucker Punch has yet to show their new IP.
JRPGs....may as well Greatness Awaits for PS5. No new screenshot of FFVII remake in 2016....guess most Square Enix JP staff busy with Dragon Quest XI. Yay more JRPGs for PS5.
Wipeout and Crash Bandicoot remasters, GT Sport, Ace Combat and Horizon 0 Dawn are the exclusives Im looking forward to next year.
Same. I'm adding Gravity Rush 2 and Tekken 7 to that list though.
Crazy how that's just, what, the first quarter?
Although those all look amazing, that's just a few in a plethora of amazing looking games coming out in 2017. My most anticipated is NiOh, followed by Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nier: Automata, P5, Crash Remaster, Ni No Kuni 2, Dreams is pretty huge for me too and I'm praying for the beta to hurry up and release, and so many other amazing games that I'm going to be broke all year...
2017 looks like utter domination for PlayStation software...
The whole year in general for gaming looks amazing too, because there's also the Nintendo Switch releasing.
XBox doesn't really have anything special coming out, but maybe 2017 will be the year that MS makes a smart move and buys and invests in more studios and IPs. Not trying to be mean to the XBox fans but c'mon... get it together MS.. this is pretty sad..
Edit @ RpgSama
Exactly. I'm not even trying to be mean about it or anything, but XBox fans need to be the ones jumping back to reality and calling MS out for this lack of games, IP's, and creativity. XBox fans need to stop pretending to be satisfied with their game lineup, and hold MS's feet to the fire, because they get almost nothing and claim it's the best lineup ever while MS throws them spin and PR to trick them into believing it. PlayStation fans need to also keep Sony's feet to the fire with their games lineup too, but the difference is that Sony has been pumping out quality game after critically acclaimed, after variety, variety, variety.
Smarten up MS and it's fans, and Sony fans keep holding Sony's feet to the fire so that we keep getting this nonstop flow of quality coming from them.
@GrubsterBeater
Yeah, for Xbox in 2017 all I can think that they have is Scalebound, Sea of Thieves, Ori 2 and Crackdown, oh, and a new Forza and Halo Wars 2.
Not exactly super creative or megaton AAA titles.
@rpg SAMA
The problem is those xbox games look very promising and I'm sad to miss them, but they are overshadowed by the sheer number of titles that PS is able to offer.
@grubster
I don't know what's going on over at MS but I'm almost certain they're aware of what we want. Would be great if they would truly listen and respond but as of now much props to Sony for keeping gaming alive!
How about throwing us JRPG fans a bone here and giving us Legend of Dragoon 2??He'll I would settle for a.remake of the original from the ground up...just saying
I would love that, plus Shu himself was involved in the development, no reason not to.
Agreed.
Legend of dragoon 2....yeah gimme that....hell give me a remaster of part 1. Ill take anything dragoon at this point
Dont have to wait long for me getting Tales of Bersia in January. Then:
Horizon Zero Dawn
Ni no Kuni 2
Yooka Laylee
Nier: Automata
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
Persona 5
etc.
I'm definitely excited for 2017
2017 is looking crazy as it is, can't even imagine what E3 is gonna look like. My wallet isn't ready.
Socom was mostly loved due to the online MP. I remember Yoshida saying they can't re-open the online side of things for the PS2 remasters.
You do have to remember Socom 1 and 2 SP was amazing as well. One of the few games that had different secondary missions and side missions depending on the difficulty. I also like the fact they don't tell you where you have to go to complete the missions.
I just don't understand how their isn't a game on console or even PC that is similar to Socom.
If Sony can add trophies, then they can re-configure the online component for the new console. It might take a lot of effort from a small team which is why Yoshida probably said that.
I would rather see a full blown remaster on the scale of WipEout Omega Collection, with network connectivity. Maybe that's on the cards for 2018.
That'd have to be a remake for the PS4. Not sure who'd do it since Zipper was shut down.
By that logic, then Microsoft's 2017 will be horrendous as it clearly has the inferior line up as compared to the ps4's
That rock you live under must be too heavy to lift, huh?
It also seems as though the rock you live under is comprised entirely of salt as well...
I'd really love if they got Spiderman, Detroit: Become Human (I need something to keep me occupied while I wait for Westworld Season 2) and Days Gone out next year. I think things are getting a bit ridiculous if those are 2018 games. I expect GOW to be Spring 2018.
I just want them to bring back SOCOM, MAG, and Resistance. Or similar types but maybe spiritual successors. And a KZ along the lines of 2&3. Some new Deep Down footage would be awesome too. That with some Horizon, Days Gone, and TLoU 2 and I'd never leave my couch.
The classic PlayStation Multiplayer that was the ultimate amount of fun! Bring it back Sony! #SOCOM #RESISTANCE
I think ps4 is gonna dominate software wise moving forward
So many exclusives something for everyone
Got to give it to Sony, constant new IPS and innovative ones in the mix. Can't wait for Dreams and Wild and all the other goodies.
The good thing from Sony's success this generation is that they have taken more risks beyond just the things we normally expect from them. Which is great.
PS4 is getting major games coming for all fans of games from god of war, spiderman, horizon, gt, days gone, Detroit, persona, nino kuni, neir, nioh, etc.. If you don't like one particular genre, there's still a game for you be it racing, fighting, RPG, adventure, action, puzzle, etc.
Games that you didn't think would be coming back and have been waiting for, Sony is supporting. With Shenmue... Of all things.. Shenmue, FF7, Crash Bandicoot, etc. Makes you wonder what else is next.
Also, games that wouldn't even get top billing and get noticed I've enjoyed a lot from Bound, Abzu, Galak-z,Adios, etc. And Bound in VR is awesome. Glad Sony supported those.
Speaking of VR, more risk taking from Sony has lead to an awesome modern first gen VR experience. Some of the first person games could be non VR games, but when you put on that headset, and the tracking is on point, just awesome.. Awesome.
So, if Sony has even ***more*** ambitious games and surprises, then that's great for gamers and PlayStation fans. I don't know about anyone else but I'd take updates or remasters of
Omega Boost
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
Tourist Trophy or put cycles in GT
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
Rise to Honor. How come we can't get a Jet Li, Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan adventure game
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
Well actually, I do enjoy this from Jackie Chan from time to time.SF/MK style fighter
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
Genji... First one was awesome
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
Ghost in the Shell stand alone complex.. Have a collaboration with with Namco Bandai
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
Getaway
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
And last but not least 8 Days.. Man I still want this game
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
But if they got new stuff, I'm all for that too. Bring it on.
It would be pretty awesome if they continued Eight Days or the Getaway 3.
Who knows , definitely wouldn't be the craziest thing that's happened in the game industry
Yeah. 8 days would work perfectly on PS4 when it was looking good on PS3. I know they probably canceled it to put more effort in uncharted and the last of us with all that animation they were showing in the gameplay video.
Even the getaway had next gen level animation similar to what rockstar and Ubisoft were doing. It's a shame not to bring those games back.
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
If Ni-oh can show up again from PS3 days, then I want some big games like those to come back too. Like a demon souls like Lair
https://m.youtube.com/watch...
with updated combat or PS4 Motorstorm. Even an HD remaster would do. Miss that too.
Well now that Sony's business now fully revolves around Playstation, I expect VR media content as well from Sony Pictures. They have basically all their eggs in the Playstation basket and that means we are going to be seeing so much more I think. They will continue to invest in content and games for PS4, PSVR, the future is going to be so good. Sony don't have some Windows UI to push, or some other agenda. It's all about Playstation and PSVR. I am very excited.
SCE London Studio / Team Soho really had some amazing things going on.
The cover-shooting animation and destructibility technology of Eight Days is kinda awesome and ahead of its time. Those tenets looked very impressive but something clearly didn't work out on that project. I would love to see it accomplished one day: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Really though, all I really want from that era now is Getaway set in Amsterdam, as shown in the trailer. It looked gritty, badass, and it could actually be a fresh take on open-world. https://www.youtube.com/wat...
I would lose my s*** if either of these are re-revealed for PS4 though, just because of how unlikely that would be.
2017 is gonna be a huge year for Playstation.
Here hoping one of those new games is Bloodborne 2.
Hopefully Playstation gamers put their money where their mouth is. Don't want a repeat of last gen where Sony released lots of great games (Resistance 3, Sly4 etc) and noone except me and 2 others bought them.
Cute. Interesting angle to take when trying to make something positive into something negative.
Regardless whether you find it positive or negative, it's the truth.
Who's truth? Yours? Because that doesn't hold much weight in the real world.
Ummm, so you're telling me games like Resistance 3, Sly 4, Playstation Allstars etc not selling as much as they should have is not the truth? Pretty sure that happened int he real world.
@Frinker
Not sure Sony has that problem anymore. Back then PS3 was sold as a cheap blu ray player and wasn't until 2008 that they marketed it as a gaming machine. However Sony does sell on all fronts rather well
Driveclub sold 2 million copies by last year
http://m.ign.com/articles/2...
Killzone Shadow Fall sold 2 million after launch
https://www.engadget.com/20...
Both Ratchet & Clank and MLB The Show topped NPD earlier this year
http://www.sportsgamersonli...
Within its first month of launch Uncharted 4 sold over 2.7 million
http://blog.us.playstation....
In fact last year they sold over 35 million copies of games altogether
http://www.playstationlifes...
Difference is though I'm referring to the exclusives that were released from 2011-2013, when Sony picked themselves up and their software release schedule was jam pakced. Games like Little big planet kart, Playstation Allstars, Sly 4, were all released one after the other, some not being marketed well and other just getting lost among bigger exclusives or multiplats.
The upcoming year seems to be a similar case in terms of a full exclusive release schedule. The examples you used were titles that were released months apart, the only real exception was Ratchet and Clank, which released fairly close to Uncharted 4.
In the first few months of 2017 we will get titles like Nioh, Gravity Rush 2 and Horizon. It will be down to the gamers on sites like these who hype them up to actually support them. It is also down to Sony to market and promote them appropriately and not leave them, out to die like some titles within the last few years of the previous gen. There;s a lot more niche, new IPs or lesser known titles releasing in 2017 compared to the renowned franchises you mentioned in your post, so we will have to see how this unfolds.
It isn't the truth. It's depends on how companies do it. I will say this again, you will never understand.
I do understand. Which is why I was able to use examples in my posts to illustrate my point, unlike you.
See, you aren't real gamer. Always says the truth this and that. You are not hero internet here, buddy. Unlike you, I do know show my optimism and skepticism about game. You denied that you are hurting people, but you are and one day you will hurt wrong people. I will say this again and again and again, you aren't real gamer. Gamer have a choice to play and know. A real gamer is not just play game, it's also about the choice they want to play, understand that not everyone have the same taste, but respect their opinion. Real gamer show the balance between optimism and skepticism. But you always being skeptical. Also, if you want Jak and Daxter back, then wait another studio do it or maybe ND sister unit will do it just like GG have GC. Regardless, you aren't real gamer.
None of this is relevant and the entire post is off topic. You're getting too personal.
notice how nobody has contributed a single agree vote to any of frinkers comments so far? and he still believes his words are like Gospel
I can't speak for millions of others, but I bought those games, so I did my part. How about you add the games that did well in your opinion, also? Sony came out with so many games last gen, so of course all of them weren't going to be smash hits.
I'm glad that Sony doesn't see it the way you do, or they wouldn't be taking those chances and bringing fresh games out. If it didn't pay off for them, then i'm sure they would be playing it safe and release only the game franchises that have done well for them. If people weren't supporting the games that come out, then why would Sony bother?
Well if you look at the games I mentioned previously: Resistance 3, Sly 4, Allstars none of these have had sequels or nay pending follow ups that we know of. This shows that Sony are willing to stop a franchise if it under perform sales wise.
Now yes, they are releasing new IPs and fresh franchises like Gravity Rush, Nioh and Horizon, but these titles are totally different genres to the prior mentioned game that failed. Sony are bothering because they must think that people weren't interested in those other IPs and genres, but these will perform better. We don't know for sure until they release.
But, aren't two of those games you mentioned sequels to games? And, do you know for a fact that there won't be an Allstars follow up?
Yeah, but it doesn't change anything. The point still stands
And any game could get a sequel in the future. The market changers and so do the games that gamers want. Th fact that DLC was cancelled during development (Dart and Abe) and the studio who developed the game were closed down shortly after the release probably indicates that, no, allstars isn't getting a sequel any time soon.
My point is you don't want Sony to take risk especially Sony is making new ip and you always playing safe way too much by making more sequels and sequels. So let them decide, not you.
"Hopefully Playstation gamers put their money where their mouth is. Don't want a repeat of last gen where Sony released lots of great games (Resistance 3, Sly4 etc) and noone except me and 2 others bought them."
Point out the part of this post where I state that I don;t want Sony to make new IPs.
Utter nonsense.
OT: With February's release of Horizon, the year starts off with a bang!
Little big planet, god of war, gran turismo, uncharted, tlou, Heavy Rain and others sold in the millions last gen and are the reason we have continued sequels now. That fake narrative that ppl were pushing last gen that PS gamers didn't support their exclusives is pure bs and false. Reality is every game doesn't sell good on all systems and you will have some that do and others that don't.
So many PS4 console exclusives releasing in 2017 & well into 2018.E3 2017...can't wait!
More games? Im already having trouble deciding what im buying come Jan 24. Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Resident Evil 7, yakuza 0, and tales of berseria all come out on the same fucking day. Not to mention Gravity Rush 2 comes out 4 days prior.
Lol I see I'm not the only one that noticed all of those games releasing on the same day.
For me it's going to be Resident Evil 7 and Yakuza 0.
I might end up buying the same 2. My girlfriend is getting KH 2.8 and berseria. I really wanted to support Gravity Rush 2 but i cant get 3 games.
Other than Pc, it has been Playstations year since the PlayStation has been released!
This is what happens when you own a bunch of badass game studios.. you get a bunch of badass games. Not that the other systems don't have sweet games.. PlayStation just has more of them
I'm getting Persona 5, TOB , NiOh , Ni No Kuni 2 , Horizon and probably Nier Automata.
You want to Wow me sony? Show me Legend of the Dragoon 2 or heck i'd take an HD remake even.
I remember back in the day there was a line being touted "PS4 has no games!". Don't really hear that anymore.
Next year is gonna be crazy. While Microsoft and Nintendo are trying to push hardware, Sony gonna steal their thunder with games.
Its gonna have to be with Scorpio's release pending. But next years line up for Sony is looking very promising
E3 17 should be an interesting year for Sony. There should be some great games ahead for the PS4.
$niper
Yesterday, a Japanese website asked several industry professional about who left an impression with them during 2015, and among the answers there were quite a few who named the late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.
Nintendo really hasnt felt the same without him. Here's to a new year with a new identity - since we all know Iwata's vision of Nintendo is irreplaceable.
Bloodborne 2 or Demon Souls 2 would be very ambitious PS4 games :)
OR
A Sci Fi/Cyberpunk game with Bloodborne gameplay mechanics. That would be amazing.
Yes please and make it harder i want to get ganked by bosses
2017 would be better so the game wont be rushed
Please don't release two brand new souls/souls-like games in the same year D=
Release Bloodborne 2 or a sci-fi souls-like game in 2017
Make something difficult. Please please pleeeeeeeeeez games need to be more difficult like they used to be.
