There’s potentially nothing more synonymous with gaming as the platformer. For so many their first heady foray into the world was leading Mario or Sonic from left to right, bouncing on the heads of all who opposed them. Over the years the genre has certainly advanced and diversified, but the joy of a precise jump, of reaching the end of a tough level, hasn’t diminished at all.
This was one of the most hotly contested categories in this year’s competition, with only one vote separating our winner from its closest rivals, with the beautiful Ori and the Blind Forest and the creative Super Mario Maker just missing out on the top spot.
Super Mario Maker's last level has been beaten, after Trimming the Herbs was revealed to be totally bogus.
The Ori and the Blind Forest studio CEO has asked the fans to purchase the game instead to completely support it.
I bought Ori for Switch because it's on GP and wanted to be able to play it on the go. That being said, at 120fps and 4K on Series X, that is the way to play.
Anyone who wanted Ori has most likely already bought it. The game is not going to sell significantly anymore but GP will offer free exposure so that when Ori 3 comes out people may be willing to buy. If your game is good enough people will support in even if they can get it on a subscription. I still buy plenty of games that are available on GP and I also have played plenty of games that I would not have played thanks to GP. Bottom line is this, make a product people want and they will buy it.
These are some of the greatest games similar to Blasphemous to play while waiting for the much-anticipated Blasphemous 2.
Tearaway is great, but i could feel this game wasn't thought for PS4 from the start. Vita version is to me far superior in terms of immersion and also fun factor.
Unfolded is huge in comparison to the original, but feels very empty at times when you are just running in the middle of highly detailed environments.
Definitely worth playing, but if you have a Vita get the original instead.
We urgently need more 3D platformers! Can't wait for Ratchet & Clank!
