Arc System Works announced Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP, or River City Ransom SP, for 3DS in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu.
The 3DS game is the first title set to celebrate the Kunio-kun series’ 30th anniversary in 2016. It will feature new events and actions.
River City Ransom SP will launch for 3DS on April 28 in Japan for 4,500 yen. It will feature new events, new techniques and combos, new areas, and new systems compared to the NES original. Development is currently 65 percent complete.
Natsume is bringing River City: Rival Showdown, released as Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari SP in Japan in October 2016, to 3DS in North America and Europe, the company announced.
The beat ’em up RPG gives Kunio three days to unravel mysteries such as why Ricki’s girlfriend was kidnapped. It will feature local multiplayer.
Today’s localization announcement follows yesterday’s localization announcement of River City: Knights of Justice.
River City: Rival Showdown will be playable at the Natsume booth at E3 2017 from June 13 to 15.
River City Ransom: Knights of Justice, released as Nekketsu Mahou Monogatari via the 3DS eShop in Japan in April 2014, is coming to North America and Europe this summer, also via the 3DS eshop, publisher Natsume announced.
The game will see Kunio and his friends transformed into medieval heroes and villains, and use swords, staves, and magic to bring peace back to Riverandia.
River City Ransom: Knights of Justice will be playable at the Natsume booth at E3 2017 from June 13 to 15.
Natsume is teasing something River City Ransom-related. The publisher posted an image of question marks on Twitter, with the text, “Punch! Kick! BARF!”
“Punch! Kick! BARF!” is a River City Ransom thing. In the English version of the game, the line romanized as “Geh!,” which is supposed to symbolize someone coughing up or saying “Argh!,” was translated as “BARF!”
I really hope this gets a North America launch. The game was great back in the day and would be all for playing this one too.
