PS Vita 4 Years on – It’s Still a Viable Gaming Platform, but You Need to Understand What It Is

Back when the PS Vita released, I envisioned a future where we’d get top-name games hitting the console every month. It’d be my other home console, effectively. That’s not happened, but I’m not too pissed off about it because it sort of still has happened. Between PS Now providing me with over 100 games to pick and play at any moment and PS4 remote play on the toilet/in the bath, I think I seriously underestimated what the future could hold for the little console that was written off far too early. - The Games Cabin

I keep thinking to myself: they could rerelease the vita and call it psp 2. Make it come with L2/R2 buttons with no touchpad. Release it with a cheaper screen and a lower price such as under 200$ with more 1st party exclusives such as God of war. If they had marketed it better and released it at a lower price it would have done better.

Hey, works for Nintendo. Heck, they could probably release it at a higher price, make it a new system with more powerful GPU/CPU, but have it full BC to trick everyone. I can't imagine the more powerful innards of the same equipment would be significantly higher than what is already there.

Just remove the biggest thing people complained about, proprietary high priced memory cards, and it'll probably do well if people can get past the "no faith in Sony, they dun screwed up that one time" mentality that will obviously surround it's announcement.

Yes they need to relaunch it with better marketing, lower price and branding like "psp 2". There is a reason why 3ds sold so well after its price drop.

If you need "to understand" and it's not clear from the beggining - it means that it's NOT a viable platform

Yeah, we said the same thing about X1 back before this gen started.

Sony barely acknowledges its existence. I feel the case is closed in this one.

MadLad3422d ago

5 disagrees.
Nothing showing I am wrong.

It's cute

Since fun games come out on it all the time it's pretty obvious you're wrong. Why would anyone feel they need to tell you why?

MadLad3421d ago

And which of those are Sony titles? It's like saying the original Xbox is kicking because you can put emulators on it.

If the company disregards its existence, it doesn't matter what some niche 3rd parties are doing in Japan.

rainslacker3422d ago

I don't feel the case is closed, but I agree, Sony isn't exactly instilling faith in others due to their lack of support. Despite loving my Vita due to being a fan of the games that exist on it, I do wonder why Sony still sells it. I suppose it's still making them money in some way, but you'd think just putting in a bit more effort would actually reap them a lot of benefits, and possibly keep open a nice market for them in the future.

I'd be hard pressed to buy a new handheld from them in the future since they barely support the one they have now after such a short period of time.

This guy don't even know what is the system though. typical guys expecting his western generic spin off game. with the great games coming for Vita and he speaking about indies and psnow, smh.

Original Ridge Racer arcade classic coming to PlayStation in June

This will be the first time the original 1993 arcade Ridge Racer has appeared on home consoles.

I hear rumors that Evercade may also be getting a Namco Arcade cart with RR and Tekken on it. That would be sweet as their previous Namco Console carts have also recently been updated to work on the VS. Previously, they only had the license to the handheld. so the OG Evercade and the EXP and even the Alpha were supported, but not the VS.

Am i the only one that wants a Ridge Racer Type 4 Remake?
