The Souls-like genre remains popular, along with FromSoftware's classics there are many contenders. But which are the best Souls-like games?
Hmm... In my opinion, the 7 best are the 6 made by FromSoftware (DeS, DS1, DS2, DS3, BB and ER), then Lies of P. But each to their own.
Saad from eXputer: "Almost a decade later, it's time to take the nostalgia goggles off and accept that Bloodborne has long been surpassed by its successors."
Yes, yes it does. It’s still a great game. Elden Ring isn’t better just different and a bit easier . I like that you have to be aggressive but smart in Bloodborne
I can agree with that list even though I never played Fallout 4 or Life Is Strange. Which the only reason I didn't get Fallout 4 is because I'm only half way through The Witcher 3 and I can't seem to get back into it. So I didn't want to start another huge open world just for the fact I have so much already invested in The Witcher 3. Season Pass and the C.E. strategy guide, I have some dollars in TW3.
Needless to say I'm on my second playthrough of Bloodborne right now, pretty much just leveling up in the Chalice Dungeons, I think I'm level 125 now. I'd be more leveled up but I messed up about halfway through my NG+, so I started completly over. The game is a little more unforgiving and you can't go back and fix situations like you can in any other open world game today.
Just prepping for the DLC area before I go there. Bloodborne is my game of the year. It has the best combat system I've ever seen in a game. Really puts TW3's combat system/118 hours of dialog to shame. I never played Fallout 4, but.....I'm just guessing its nothing like Bloodborne. Which not many games are.
Fallout 4 > Witcher 3
Witcher 3 > Fallout 4... Fallout 4 needs an new Engine seriously. But I still enjoyed the game.
Fallout 4 was just so unappealing to me for whatever reason. I think it was the rounded, colorful art direction they tried to do, as well as stripping the semi-horror quiet atmospheric feel from it, making it an overpowered shooter where you get power armor from the start of the game. Also the story was atrocious.
Witcher 3 was fantastic, except for the boring combat.
Bloodborne had the best atmosphere, level design, and character design in a game I can remember to date. Gameplay was also phenomenal, as always. Genious in every way, except for the world's ugliest menu UI.
