Fast Racing Neo is a more cerebral take on pioneers like Wipeout and F-Zero | GamesBeat

GB:
Sometimes gaming genres die. Sometimes, developers and players all hop off a trend together and a certain kind of game that was once ubiquitous fizzles out. It looks like that’s what happened to fast sci-fi racing games — or it would have if it weren’t for the Germans.

I wish this game was available on PC!

Hoffmann3433d ago

The guy behind it is a big Nintendo fan...German and very loyal to that company. Sadly.

I wouldn't rule it out, Shin'en did a version Nano Assault Neo for the PS4. They are huge Nintendo fans though and they've stated multiple times that they prefer to develop for Nintendo hardware.

Commendable👈

Segata3432d ago

@Nevers0ft. They have repeatedly said after people asked that question that the game is Wii U only period. Also Nano bombed hard on PS4. So that probably kills any more chances of Shin'en on PS4. They been primarily on Nintendo consoles anyway.

Nevers0ft3432d ago

Yeah, I heard Nano Assault didn't do so well on the PS4 - shame really, the game is pretty damned good. I really just wanted to point out that Shin'en aren't totally averse to bringing their games to other consoles. FAST coming to other consoles is unlikely, but not impossible... Especially if the hype around the Wii U version keeps growing.

Know what this game reminds me of?

The first time I rode on The Accelerator at Knott's Berry Farm, down here in Southern California.

It gives you the same rush of adrenaline as that ride does, only more constant and with less lip-flapping and screaming.XD

I found Wipeout to be very cerebral as far as sci-fi racing games were concerned. Properly navigating a course was all about hitting corners at the proper angle and controlling the pitch of your nose and properly using the air brakes. The more complex courses are very difficult at high rates of speed.

Fist4achin3433d ago

I wish this were to come to other consoles. I miss anti-gravity racing. Maybe we'll get some more wipeout!

Fast RMX Review

The Fast series is somewhat of a spiritual successor to F-Zero, a Nintendo franchise that has been long forgotten by Nintendo itself. If Nintendo won't develop any more games in the series, at least Shin'en is trying...but have their efforts ended up being worth it? Let's dig in.

Isn't that the point? For the current systems to be better than last gen?

_-EDMIX-_2974d ago

The fact that this is even news is actually quite scary.

Smh.

This is a big deal to them

InKnight7s2974d ago (Edited 2974d ago )

Ooooooh shit I cant beleive it!!! Much faster than last gen console while it still hold same 10 years old graphics? Wii U pro

meka26112974d ago

I would hope it would load faster, the switch uses cartridges lol.

NotoriousWhiz2974d ago

The titles compared here are digital only.

jaredite832974d ago

Since it is digital only it shows that switch is just faster overall. The game is not 10 years old graphics as some retard suggests, it is a 2015 game and the switch version has double the resolution, better post processing effects and seems like if anti aliasing is too with other improvements. Also frame rate is better. So it is significant improvement for a game that is a port.

FAST Racing Neo Review - TeamVVV

VVV: "It's a shame FAST Racing Neo isn’t available to a wider audience because PS4 and Xbox One owners are missing out on one of the most intense futuristic racers released in years. Its old-school structure and punishing difficulty won’t appeal to everyone, and it lacks the production values and iconic status of rival games that inspired it, but FAST Racing Neo is a challenging, adrenaline-filled futuristic racing game that successfully fills the void of WipEout and F-Zero with enough unique mechanics to set it apart, all for a temptingly cheap asking price. Clearly, Nintendo needs to hand over the F-Zero license to Shin’en."

Seems a bit weird reviewing the wii u version of this 2 days before the latest switch version is released. Nevertheless it sounds like a good game and it was a good review.
