Has Amy Hennig’s departure impacted Uncharted 4?

In June 2014, Naughty Dog lost one of the most creative minds in the industry to a mystery Star Wars game. We asked Naughty Dog if that departure has shaped or altered the narrative of Uncharted 4 at all.

Hennig's departure worried me at first. She's a real talent. But I'm confident Straley and Druckmann can pull it off.

Well those two worked closely together on the Last of Us one of the best games of last generation. I'm not worried that they'll deliver again with Uncharted 4. Amy Hennig's loss was unfortunate but I'm sure she'll go on to do great things for other games/studios.

Impacted probably for the better..

Now that the creative minds behind the last of us are in total control of uncharted 4... I see this being drake's best outing yet in his finale

How anyone can be worried when any henning didn't really excel in uncharted 3 though it was a good game and now it's in the hands of the last of us team is purely trying to create clickbait articles..

Even playing and clocking the new tomb raider(xbox owners support the devs it's a good game) i can tell crystal dynamics borrowed soo many elements from the last of us... Like alot

Anyway Not long now....

Probably, but that's not a bad thing.

Druckmann and Straley have Uncharted in their DNA, and The Last of Us was a pitch perfect masterpiece. Hennig was fantastic, but Uncharted 3 wasn't nearly as good as Uncharted 2 was, so she wasn't infallible. I'm completely confident that the story in Uncharted 4 will be up to par with Druckmann's previous work, and will result in an awesome game.

Agreed. Naughty Dog is bigger then just one person

Straley and druckman worked on Uncharted 2, a game the fanbase considers the best of the trilogy on PS3 so far.

Things change and creatives leave studios all the time. She has friends at ND and she loved it there, She hasn't bad mouthed ND and she hasn't bad mouths Crystal Dynamics she's fully involved in her work directing Star Wars at Viceral with Jade, And As with any great developer, when great talent leaves you cultivate and empower new talent to rise up and lead. Uncharted is in talented hands with Neil and Bruce at the helm, They've worked on Uncharted 1 and Uncharted 2 so they know how to make uncharted games.

Enough of the gloom and doom. Naturally The game's development was impacted because It was Delayed, They'll be fine!

As much as I think Druckmann and Straley have things under control, the fact that neither Naughty Dog or Hennig has spoken about the circumstances of her departure is more likely the result of a mutual NDA that includes a non-disparagement clause as part of her contract.

I'm not saying that she would "bad mouth" them even if she had the opportunity, but it sounds like there was at least a little friction when she departed. A shame, but that's the business.

I think UC4 will get mix reviews becuae I have a feeling that the story will be dark and sad.

I am personally up for the more Chris Nolan type of Uncharted than the traditional UC but I know a lot of people who like the light hearted comedic Drake so not sure how this will play out.

Some one important will die in UC just not sure who.

I doubt it did impact the game. There are extremely talented people working on the game so i am pretty sure the game will be awesome as usual.

I have no problem with Amy, I look up to her talent and dream of doing what she has been able to accomplish thus far. But the journey for Drake has been handled by many talented people, and now, what people are calling the final adventure of Uncharted as we know it, she, unfortunately well not a part of it. But whether this is the end, or just a goodbye for now, Amy's impact on the series will follow it forever, just as everyone else who helped turned a pretty boy with a itch for thrills, into a global phenomenon.
