1. Story DLC i.e. Chapter 3 or Episode 51 incoming.
2. He is showing off a new IP.
3. A Final thanks to players.

He won't waste his time just by "being" there.

I agree if he's there he'll probably have something to say. But wether or not he'll be there we don't know. Some of Keighley's "teases" have been misleading in the past and we know he likes to hype people up so I'll rather stay calm and keep my expectations in check.

My guess is he's either there to announce a new studio he's opening or to receive some kind of lifetime game achievement award.

I think it's far too early for any new game. He wasn't fired long ago. If anything, I'd say it could be a teaser for a game that we wont see till 2018

I was listening to a KindaFunny podcast w/ Adam Kovic and he said the rumor is that Kojima partnered up with Microsoft for a silent hills style project.

It's really early if he's going to announce his own plans.
It would take time to setup his own company, unless he's aligned his self with another company.... but if its true that that he's still under contract with Konami, then he couldn't do that (or at least announce it yet).

My money is on DLC announcement for MGSV.

I think he's under a 3 month non compete clause that expires in December so I dont thing anything is going to be announced in the near future

Nyxus, according to rumors, his contract ends December 2015. If we were to believe those rumors, we don't actually know when in December his contract ends.

The fact he has "Kojima Productions" added under his name on the TGA site is another thing to look into. And no it's not a copy paste from last year. They readded it when it wasn't there in the first place.

He will not go 1st party, he'd more likely be a 3rd or 2nd party studio and sign a multi-game deal with 1 of the big 3. If he did become a 1st party studio it would probably cost more than it's worth.

He was spending alot of time with PS4 architect Mark Cerny lately.

If he signed to ms it would be purely greed based, they aren't quite known for their ties to Japan or Japanese games. They aren't known for creative freedom and long leashes on their devs either. Koji doesn't ever hit his marks or budgets, it wouldn't work with ms.

It's the game awards, guys. MGSV is a major contender. It's also his final MGSV game. Why wouldn't he be there to support all the hard work that he and his team put into it?

He also had a no compete clause in his contract which is set to expire this month, so I doubt he'll be talking about any new projects with a new company.

Agreed. Though as much as I loved MGSV I'm hoping for Bloodborne or The Witcher 3 to take home the GOTY award. The missing content really killed MGSV for me. I'm excited to imagine what Kojima will be able to do with the full support of his next publisher.

Honestly... If he's there it could be one of three things

1.There to announce a new studio/partnership with either Sony, Nintendo or MS... (likely)

2.Announce a new game... (unlikely)

3.accept an award from the VGA council for his contributions to the video game industry for 30 years (Very Likely)
