AMD Launches World's Fastest Graphics Card: AMD 4870 X2

DMNnewswire reports:

AMD today announced the world's fastest graphics card, the ATI Radeon(TM) HD 4870 X2, advancing visual computing ever closer to eye-definition computing gaming and cinematic experiences and delivering a whopping 2.4 teraFLOPS of processing power. Also announced today is the ATI Radeon(TM) HD 4850 X2 graphics card, delivering blistering performance at a compelling price point.

These cards comprise the ATI Radeon HD 4800 X2 series, combining two ATI Radeon HD 4800 series GPUs with a more advanced cross-GPU connection based on the PCIe 2.0 standard, plus two gigabytes of memory - the most in any currently available consumer graphics card. These technologies combine to make the ATI Radeon HD 4800 X2 series perfectly suited for the most demanding games, able to deliver astonishing frame rates at extreme resolutions and image quality settings.

Fastest card for a couple of months

darkequitus3722d ago

That was a clever comment. A red apple for you

I think it will be a while before you see a single card that gives as much performance for the money.

thats why i say pc gpus are never all that impressive like you pc fans hype them to be

This is actually an extremely impressive GPU.

The price-to-performance ratio is fantastic, and from a pure performance standpoint, the HD 4870X2 is beastly. The microstuttering problem that has plagued multi-GPU setups has also supposedly been fixed.

Not because it lacks something, on the contrary.... It makes me sad cuz I won't be able to afford it right now. It really is a great deal at 399.

Meh not impressed. It's basically two cards in one slot. SLI on one card, cheating. I hate how card makers are doing that a lot these days.

Xi3721d ago

but you can run this card in sli with another 4870X2.

AuToFiRE3721d ago

wrong, in crossfire, which is better than SLI

the 4870 is really impressive, now the 4870X2 is pure win. Great Performance per the money. Now nobody has a reason to think about Nvidia latest cards with their bloated price tags.

Who cares if it is 2 AMD4870 slapped together. It gives better performance than normal crossfire and the 4870 itself is pure win.
I am normally an Nvidia guy, but this time AMD is really kicking their butts.
