Remember your roots by going back to where it all began and into where we now are.

It's amazing to look back and see how this seires developed to be one of the big gaming franchises in the industry today. It's also cool to see how ND grew as a developer along with it. Cant wait to see another new IP that can capture the essence of these games. Sony needs to go back and bring 8 days back. Add charismatic characters and offer the same over the top cinematic experiences and we'll be set with a new action/adventure franchise.

someone forgot to mention CGI level on rachet and clank

pyroxxx3457d ago

Even ratchet on PS3 looks bananas

Tech53457d ago

Evolution of graphics on youtube, priceless...

pyroxxx3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

This gen,.. the most thing that improved a lot is lightning,..and finally some decent AA in games seam to be normal games look bananas

boodi3457d ago

i think next gen is VR only or so .. game will be fully immersing .. world's gonna change imo .. not for gaming only.. but likely because of gaming evolution

Aenea3457d ago

Nah, even tho I'm excited as all heck about VR I still wanna be able to play games without a headset on...

Sly-Lupin3457d ago

PS1 to PS2 to PS3 were all major leaps. PS3 to PS4? Not so much. We've got the room for some better lighting and post-processing effects, but that's about it. Models, animations and textures are all at about the same level.

boodi3457d ago

i would say wait for later realease on ps4 . i remember i was jaw dropping on motorostorm 1 when it came out . still a good game . but later release have achieved something special on ps3 .

Imalwaysright3457d ago

PS3 is not the same as the PS4. There is no learning curve with the PS4 with its x86 architecture as opposed to the PS3 with the alien cell architecture. There won't be a big jump in graphical fidelity this gen like there was from Rfom

to a game like TloU

boodi3457d ago

@ IAMALWAYSRIGHT : i'm sure your wrong

fdkenzo3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

Look at Uncharted 3 on ps3 , and look at uncharted 4 ...if you don't see a bug diference is probably a problem at you....
And look at the order , is still the best looking game to date...

Sly-Lupin3457d ago

Sure, there's a difference. But not a big one.

Compare Final Fantasy 7 to Final Fantasy X to Final Fantasy XIII to Final Fantasy XV... there are enormous differences in the levels of quality between the first three games... but not so much between the third and fourth.

ColonelHugh3457d ago (Edited 3457d ago )

@Lupin

Those might not be the best comparisons, considering both FFVII and FFX had production begin on older consoles and XIII and XV went through development hell. With VII in particular, the game was relatively rushed in areas. Sounds effects were largely ported from FFVI and the graphics weren't great even for it's time. Just a year later and Parasite Eve showed what Squaresoft could do on the hardware.

With XIII, they made a LINEAR JRPG, eschewing basically everything except barebones story, and the stunningly beautiful soundtrack and graphics. The game practically plays itself (I liked it, still). XV is pretty big and open, it seems. Not a fair comparison.

As for Uncharted 3-4 gap, you need your eyes checked. Polygon count, textures, destruction, lighting, all look discernably improved. It doesn't seem as big of a jump because we are getting to a point where the tech is much closer to photorealism then decades ago.

Sly-Lupin3457d ago

Get my eyes checked?

WTF are you on about?

The argument was never that the change from PS3 to PS4 was "indiscernible." It's that the leap--IE the degree to which the new platform improves on the old--is much, much lesser this generation than in prior generations.

The leap from 2D to 3D was revolutionary. It fundamentally changed the way games were designed and played.

The leap from the PS1-era to PS2-era saw a refinement of nearly every aspect of 3D game design and aesthetics--the new hardware could produce larger, more detailed environments, more fluid animations, and could render much more clear artistic styles.

The PS2 to PS3 leap was lesser than the revolutionary leaps that came before, but it still allowed for further refinement--applying animation to environments, the possibility of a realistic visual aesthetic (an impossibility until then), and so on.

But what does the PS3 to PS4 jump give us? Nothing. Fidelity and shaders/effects are somewhat improved, but the actual games are pretty much the same now as they were before, because this is *not* a revolutionary leap forward.

In fact, the industry is most likely done with revolutionary steps forward for the next several decades.

Look, I get that the PS4 is the sexy new thing that all the fanboys want to fellate madly, all the goddamned day. But you're out of your bleeding skull if you think the difference in tech and software output between the current generation of consoles and the last even remotely approaches the massive, revolutionary changes ushered in by previous generations.

Sly-Lupin3457d ago

The other side to that, of course, is the "in motion" side of visuals. The massive set-piece environments, destructible terrain, and incredibly detailed animations present in modern big-budget games all rely heavily on increasingly powerful hardware, and vastly improve the visuals to a(n arguably greater) extent than polygonal models and VFX.

Case in point: The Witcher 3's animated trees due more to improve the visual atmosphere of the game than all of the pores and follicles on Geralt's head combined.

blackblades3457d ago

I would say imagine 14-20 years from now of how games would look. Doing so would make you imagine what you'll be like then and how old you'll be.

Ever since Heavy Rain, I've been supporting Quantic Dream. They put heart and soul into their work and create art.

That art might not be for everyone, but it's polished, well designed and engaging for those that enjoy it.

Dirty_Lemons107d ago

I bought Heavy Rain just to play on my brother's PS3 each weekend, travelled home from uni just to finish it. What a great experience!

Cacabunga107d ago

Heavy Rain was a masterpiece and one of my top 3 best PS3 games.
Beyond was solid as well but not as good.
Elliot Page is nonsense 🤦🏻

DafunkyRebel107d ago

JASON JASONNNN yeah that was a great game, wish there was a proper remake

Relientk77107d ago

This is actually my favorite Quantic Dream game. I thought the story, supernatural stuff, and cast was great and super interesting. Hopefully the show will be good.

cthulhucultist106d ago

Same here, This one i liked the most. The variety in scenery and set pieces was refreshing and the supernatural aspect was well executed.

I am a bit biased however because I love all interactive movie like games
