I just came back from Target about an hour ago. All the Wii U's were gone, which I knew would be the case. They were selling the Wii U bundle for $250 with Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. When I got there, I asked the guy if they had any left. He said, "Oh No." They were all sold out within the first hour. I checked the cases and saw both PS4 and XB1's still there. He said Nintendo will have more sales for the system before Christmas. I'll get one eventually. I really can't see Nintendo going back to $300 for this system.
Both the Xbox and PS4 were in good supply at the two Targets near me. I think the Wii U is a good system. Imagine what they could have done if they had a reasonable/lower price when it first launched.
Misleading statistic. It could be the best selling online console considering it had very limited (or no) online sales of the other consoles. You likely had to go into the store to get the deal on the PS4 and XBO.
Something makes me suspect that it's perfectly reasonable to question the circumstances of the worst selling console suddenly claiming to have been the best selling console.
I don't understand the dislikes when this is exactly the case. Target Online says those X1 and PS4 deals are "In Stores Only". The Wii U isn't going to win NPD or BF. There's really no use in being salty about that statement.
This is a perfect example of how family and kid centric games rule the market and are in fact, the casual market and relatively missing link currently. Majority of these people didn't buy WiiU's because of the console, they bought it because of the colorful and fun looking games that which most can be played with two people or at least be entertaining for people to couch watch.
It's why WiiU failed, it wasn't about fun with your family playing the games we loved, it was about the new controller, with a higher than average price tag(Its first year). This is why I think Microsoft or Sony need to have some kind of big party game that you can have fun with your kids, parents, brothers/sisters, etc, anyone, together in the same room. This is also how NX can smash the competition, be on par or better powerwise to achieve same graphic and performance capability as PS4, gaining most 3rd party juggernauts, but also provide fun family games on top of Nintendo core. Whoever takes advantage of the casual wins. Ps4 is doing great but it can and should be doing wii numbers if it appealed to family more rather than core, core, core(another reason xbox is failing). I love my uncharted and bloodborne and niche games like last guardian like everyone else, but there's still something missing for the platform (its not littlebigplanet either, that's a kids game, not family)
Wow, talk about delusional! I have a PS4 and there are several games my 5 year old plays with me or watches me play...
Knack Rayman Legends Beach Buggy Racing Driveclub Trials Fusion Rocket League MLB the Show 2015 NBA 2k 2015 Madden 2015 Little Big Planet 3 Tearaway Unfolded Marvel Legos Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare
I mean, don't get me wrong. I love Nintendo and we own Wii U as well with several wonderful games. However you're just flat wrong in saying the other systems don't have family-friendly options.
Personally I think it's a mistake to buy a Wii U now with NX looming so closely and could very well be backwards compatible.
I want to give this game a try at some point after its release. I'm playing Tales of Xillia on PS3 at the moment though so I don't really want to start another RPG yet.
there are plenty of games already released or upcoming to justify $250. Clearly he is not an early adopter and is concerned about cost. I say get a wii u now.
I own one too and it's more than justifiable, just saying its kinda a waste if nx is around the corner.
The nx will probably make the wiiu have a price drop as well sense it'll be old news.
In honestly I'm just but hurt that after I bought my wii u they announced the nx. I've still had fun on it but now I'll need to buy another console in 1-2 years.
They didn't announce a new console, they said the NX is the next system. They didn't say it was a home console, a handheld, or something to go along with the mobile move they were making. It's a great idea to pick up a WiiU since it has a lot of great games just like the other system.
seriously I have enjoyed super Mario maker more than any other game in years and I have all 3 consoles and many games. Its worth the cost of a wiiu alone.
I'll get to try Super Mario Maker at Christmas as I've bought it for my sister. We've had a Wii U since last Christmas but only have Mario Kart 8. I'll also be picking up the new Project Zero soon so I look forward to getting more use out of the console!
I, too, have all three and ABSOLUTELY everyone who wants the full spectrum of gaming should own a Wii U and either a XB1/PS4/Gaming PC and you would have nearly all!!
In the short term, that's good for Nintendo now...but I don't see how this bodes well for them when Nintendo is set to announce a new console next year.
Announce and release are two different things.
For all we know, Nintendo might make the Wii U last as long as the PS3 did just to boost sales, and to have an easier time readjusting the tech inside to be easier to work with.
It's not like third parties are gonna suddenly stop making new games after 2016, so a longer wait would also make it easier to get a launch full of third party games that have had much more development time than if they launched the system next year.
If the NX's tech is good enough, then they might even include the system at the ground floor of development for new multiplats in 2017 and beyond.
We don't want a repeat of the rush jobs that most third party ports were on the Wii U's launch.
They said they would talk about what NX is. They did not say it's a console to succeed the Wii U or a handheld to succeed the 3DS and they certainly did NOT say it was releasing next year. Check your facts before opening your mouth.
Nice personal attack, Nix. Want some fries for all that salt? I've been with both Sony and Nintendo since the early days, and I've had my fair share of complaints about both. If me sticking with a PS3 and not owning a PS4 irks you, then that's your problem, not mine.
Oh, and the right word you're looking for, is "learned". Not "learnt". And the proper word after "thinking" should be "has".
Looks like I'm not the one between the two of us that has issues thinking things through before I type.:P
it doesn't irk me. i'm just baffled with your demands. PS4 with native PS3 support and no fees for MP. we've moved on to next generation, sadly. i hate the MP fee part but since i have been a PS+ user it doesn't bother me much but it might bother others, like you.
get yourself a PS4. stop being stubborn. you're missing out on great games.
@ Nix Of course you're baffled, Nix: you probably don't look at every $5 bill as your next meal ticket, whereas I'm forced to do so, which makes the PS+ fee just to play games online something I'm unwilling to pay. Out of necessity, if not out of principles and irritation at the fact that it's not something Sony should have done, nor needed to do, to their long-time fans. PS4 doesn't have a strong enough library of games to convince me to trade up. Especially not at that price. Everything the PS4 has right now, is comprised of games I could also get on a gaming PC, games that require online for the full experience to be had, games that have equivalently good similar games to rival them on other systems (Bloodborne = Dark/Demon Souls on my PS3), or HD remasters of games I can find much cheaper on last gen and still enjoy just as much, because I am not obsessed over graphics needing to be super HQ to enjoy a game.
Sony just hasn't made the system worth trading up to for me, as a fan or a consumer. If they accomplished both of the things I listed, I'd have no more reason to wait to trade up. Especially if it came with a permanent price drop.
So Target sold like a few dozen Wii U's? Wow that's really going to boost the total sales of Wii U's this holiday, they might actually break 50k worldwide for the month of November! Congrats Nintendo!
lol this reaction to one positive bit of nintendo news in a sea of negative nintendo news. Life must be rough for you mate. Hope you find happiness somewhere down the line.
Wow, so tell me why you wasted your time going to THREE Target stores? Hell I hate it if I have to step inside ONE for any reason let alone three, sounds like you know how to have a good time..
I went to Best Buy late this evening and I was surprised to learn that the Wii U was completely sold out, but there were still Xbox One and PS4 bundles to be found.
