Fallout hardcore fans need to calm down a little. Its not the end of the world if its not part of the lore.

And Pete Hines needs to stop looking like a complete Douche. Because his replies are pissing me off.

VER1ON3502d ago

In truth he didnt say anything wrong really. Just realistic indeed. He does act some sort of arrogant now and then though.

DarkOcelet3502d ago

Yeah, but the way he replies. It irritating. I really think he should be a bit more friendly rather than just giving a blunt answer like that.

Gazondaily3502d ago

I do agree with him though. Its about a kid in a fridge ffs. The way these people are moaning about consistency and lore, you'd think they made Jiggly Puff the last boss in the game.

Screw it. If I were him I'd release an update stealthily changing all characters to be this guy:

AND HIS NAME IS ....

Kidmyst3502d ago

These fans really need to chill the F*** out. It's not realistic for a ghoul to survive in a fridge for 200 years but it's realistic that you'd pick up a syringe from a urinal and inject it into yourself for health or a syringe for that matter laying around for who knows how long? Or that you can build a wooden shack from pencils when the wood you get from the pencils is nowhere close to the wood needed for the fence? WHO CARES? just have fun and enjoy the game.

NukaCola3502d ago

A world that ends over 60 years in the future from now but feels like its frozen 60 in the past in the culture. Seems like you ought to enjoy the fiction.

UnHoly_One3502d ago

Ever try to give an answer to a group of passionate fans using less than 140 characters and trying to keep everyone happy at once?

No?

Me neither. But I'm guessing it is pretty hard to NOT sound like a dick sometimes.

Text only communication is hard to do without risk of being misinterpreted.

I agree he can sound like a jerk sometimes, but is that really what he meant, or just how we are interpreting it?

freshslicepizza3502d ago

the people ranting about everything are hard to tolerate. he simply answered light-heartedly and got ripped to shreds.

just goes to show how serious people are over videogames. friggen videogames, how sad is that? did these people spend years making the game. did they pony up 10's of millions of dollars making it? no, they spend $60 and think they can say and do whatever they want.

Testfire3501d ago (Edited 3501d ago )

@ Moldy, I agree and disagree with you. Imo, Hines displayed an enormous amount of patience and restraint dealing with these fan(atic)s. I sure wouldn't have. On the other hand, yes people do invest big parts of their lives in some video games. People invest their lives in sports, movies, music, etc as well. You yourself have close to 3,000 comments in 1 year in a video game news site so I'd say video games are a good part of your life like they are mine so lets not throw too many stones.

But these fans need to chill out imo. There has always been Easter eggs and weird stuff since Fallout 3 that don't always make sense to the lore so yeah.

His reply did not provoke such a response from all those hardcore fans. Over reaction much.

DarkOcelet3502d ago

Its Overreaction yes, but he needs to be a bit better in his job. Responding in a nicer way doesn't hurt.

At least he isn't a complete @ss like Randy Pitchford.

Timesplitter143502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

@DarkOcelot

To be honest, I often think gamers act like entitled ignorant assholes most of the time and if I were in Hines' place I'd probably answer the same way.

"We're not interested in realism" is a perfectly fine thing to say, and people who don't understand that know nothing about game design and the general creative process of making games

k2d3502d ago

Tired of grown babies getting into a hissy fit over Bethesda. Just don't buy their games and shut up. Now excuse me while I get back to playing Fallout 4.

Dark113502d ago

Have you ever been on twitter? i can't really blame him for acting this way but i do agree he overreact sometimes.

ravinash3501d ago

He must have to put up with these comments all the time. I wouldn't blame him if he started banging his head against the wall.

garrettbobbyferguson3502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

Internal consistency is important in a story. If you cannot even keep it consistent, it means you really don't give a crap, or you are amateur enough to miss such a major oversight. Now tell me, which is worse to you? Disregarding the jet, they could have easily made the child in the fridge a comedic undermining of the "Cryo" technology that they shoe horned in to this Fallout. But again, refer to my amateur point.

user99502793502d ago

haha yeah. What a bunch of dweebs. The game is spectacular, and more importantly its a GAME. give the dude a break, I know comicon nerds like to grill people on the details but its a bit pathetic.

letsgopal3502d ago

"Because his replies are pissing me off. "

Why? He have tons of stupid and retarded questions every day.

DarkOcelet3501d ago

I would rather him not answering it at all if he is gonna reply like that.

Phunkydiabetic13502d ago (Edited 3502d ago )

Ive been a Fallout fan since day one release of the first. I am a "hardcore" Fallout fan. You know what I do that these neckbeards dont? I accept the package that Bethesda delivered for what it is.

This is THEIR game. THEY paid the millions involved in purchasing the rights. They made the game in their vision. If I dont like how the game ended up or what has been changed you know what I do?

I dont buy it.

For real, what self entitled moron thinks that their opinion matters when it comes to design decisions in a game that they have no stakes in. It wasnt crowd funded. If you dont like it dont buy it.

It always made me wonder how Pete Hines got this job, considering his arrogance is usually at an all time high.

boodi3502d ago

I think artists ( as well as hardcore programmers ) should be considered bit borderline . to begin with . then it should be considered the amount of time and efforts they put in their creations . then we can say "you're douche " . but it is likely that it's part of the game .

would be nice that every of them would be kind like hideo kojima , but you know that man is a living myth

Mister_Info_Tek3502d ago

whine some more, why don't you?

BartMoons3502d ago

Woa those Fallout fans surely take this too seriously. Hines needs to formulate his answers better but stil....

ScorpiusX3502d ago

I found nothing wrong with his responses, think people are just being over dramatic .

Mouktouk3502d ago

"My character is someone that never needs to eat, sleep, piss and poop in a fantasy world and I care about realism".
Wow seriously, guys. I feel ashamed to be a gamer if this is so easy to be infuriated and showing no respect to someone that worked on the game I like.

Was there the same uproar with Skyrim when we had talking dragons, chicken defense force or heroes Fus Roh Dahing things? I just can't imagine how it would translate in the cinema industry: "Hey Michael Bay, Megan Fox porking Shia Laboeuf in Transformers is soooo unrealistic". "You mean, that movie with giant alien talking robots that can take the shapes of human vehicles?".

TFJWM3502d ago

Bad example considering Megan Fox dated Laboeuf in the real world...

OT: Don't see the big deal

Somebody3502d ago

It's not about having characters who don't need to poop, sleep, piss or eat. Everyone knows about those ludicrous things in games.

Looking at the first tweet it was just an ordinary inquisitive question about a particular part of the game. That seems typical for a hardcore fan who is deeply invested in the lore so there's nothing wrong for him to ask for some sort of clarification.

There's a lot of ways for Hines to answer that question(tell the truth, lie or even make it mysterious to get the fans talk about it even more) but he chose to piss off a lot of fans.

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast79d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos79d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator79d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

Ex-Starfield dev dubs RPG’s design the “antithesis” of Fallout 4

Starfield is actually a RPG. Bethesda hasn't done that in a while.

GhostScholar181d ago

People acted like starfield was so less interesting than fallout and drastically different, but I call bs on that. Both are decent games, but they are both filled with the appearance of things to do and items to interact with but 99 percent are just there to be there with no significance. Fallout has better character work but they are both sort of illusions that they’re vast.

Shiore2u180d ago

Studio has been going downhill since Skyrim. Every following game gets dumbed down more than the previous. I'll be shocked if Elder Scrolls VI even has dialogue options.

anast180d ago

Fallout 4 was bad, real bad. Starfield might even be a better RPG.

trez1082180d ago

Fallout 4 wasn’t a great fallout game per se but real bad? I don’t know maybe I’m a little biased because I replied it not long ago and had fun with it.
