How Bloodborne “The Old Hunters” broke me

Leo Stevenson - "This is the first time in my gaming career that I’ve been totally ruined by a game, but if any game was going to do it I’m glad it was Bloodborne. I really do love it, but right now it does not love me back and you know what? That’s ok. I’m just going to have to prove myself to Bloodborne all over again. "

I'm on my 4th playthrough with my main character, so hopefully it doesn't break me too. I went into it today and so far I can tell it will be challenging but hasn't been too challenging (yet).

Bloodborne is such a strange game how some people have no problem beating some bosses but not others, and vice versa. Martyr Logarius very nearly broke me but most people seemed to dispose of him with ease!! I was close to throwing in the towel over him! I don't think I'm emotionally prepared enough to take on this dlc yet :-D

I'm so with you. He was so hard it was unreal.

I literally had to rank up my Strength about 10 levels before I even started making a dent. He was very hard.

I use the 2hand Axe primarily. Perhaps weapon choice makes a diff? I know the pistol trick for Martyr L, but I rather enjoy the straight combat and roll technique. Makes it much harder.

Will we be able to use the new weapons right off the bat or do we have to wait until we reach the DLC area? I am in the first Sick Room on NG+. I haven't even ran past the first wolfe yet. My character is "skill" stat heavy, it just scales good with the Blades of Mercy. If we can have access to the new weapons right off the bat and not have to wait for the DLC area I might just stick with having a "Skill" heavy character on NG+ and continue on. Hopefully a "skill" scaling weapon will be one of the new ones but I'm not sure.

I might just wait until my harcover Future Press guide comes so I can see the stats for each new weapon and see what stat scales the best with them. There guide for the regular game was the best hard cover guide I've probably ever seen. It was 500 plus pages. The Old Hunters guide is around 200 or 250 I think.

I guess I'm pretty stoked to be diving into this again. This was my game of the year for 2015 and it will be a great work up for.........Dark Souls 3.

You don't get the new weapons until you are in the DLC area. You find them on various corpses, or you get badges that let you buy them.

You can't even access the DLC until you beat Vicar Amelia, but in my experience, the level of the DLC is closer to (or even harder than) the end game. Good luck!

Hidetaka Miyazaki 'knows for a fact' other FromSoftware devs want a Bloodborne PC port

Keep that hope alive, PC gamers.

Huey_My_D_Long1d 11h ago

Honestly a bloodborned PS5 Remaster and PC Port would have gone really well especially for this dry spell we seem to be in.

got_dam1d 6h ago

I think he is saying only bloodborne can make him wet.

Skuletor1d ago

They're probably referring to first party games.

VincentVanBro1d 5h ago

Bud were you here for 2023? We’re drowning mate, no dry spell in sight.

-Foxtrot1d 6h ago (Edited 1d 6h ago )

It’ll happen at the PS6 launch in my opinion

We might get a PS6 Remake for launch like they did with Demons Souls for the PS5. The PC port may follow who knows.

Inverno1d 6h ago

I just wanna be walking around with my Deck playing Bloodborne like a absolute nerd on full blast so people can hear the shrieks.

"But there are millions of PC gamers out there still holding onto hope"

Game gets announced...and the complaints pile in to justify piracy. It's old so it should be 20 dollars, psn requirement means no buy but i will pirate, it's just a port they didn't even remake it and it doesn't have every graphics option ever so I'm getting the torrent.

Skuletor1d ago

Even so, that shouldn't have prevented Sony from releasing a FPS/resolution patch or upgraded PS5 release by now.

VersusDMC23h ago

Maybe the From Software engine is such a mess that it is not worth the cost or time for Sony. Bloodbourne is one of the lowest selling souls games.

And even with Elden Ring selling 20+ million they still haven't patched the PS5 version to play at 60fps. Only way to play elden ring on PS5 at 60fps is to play the PS4 version on PS5.

But maybe Bluepoint is working on a remake as that would be the only thing they could charge full price for and be worth the time and money.

Chard19h ago

Most FromSoftware fans would rather a port with the original art intact over a remake that messes with the assets and atmosphere

Elda1d 4h ago (Edited 1d 4h ago )

But instead Sony gives PS5/PC owners an option to buy a PS5/PC Until Dawn remaster/rework this year, something I highly doubt PS fans asked for. A Bloodborne PS5/PC remaster is highly anticipated among fans.

Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower is my fave boss fight from Bloodborne, a flurry of brilliant swordplay was that fight that left me salivating.
