I can understand why the two are compared but Uncharted 4 is most definitely in a league of one's own.

It's because Uncharted is not trying to imitate TR and instead keep the lighthearted tone, humor, storytelling, setpieces, and characters. That's why it's a league of its own. Oh and don't forget the multiplayer.

TR have more gameplay features than Uncharted, and that's okay! Uncharted's gameplay is simpler and has stronger storytelling and cinematic gameplay, and that's okay.

People keep comparing both but in the end they offer different experiences and tones, which is what this industry needs: Variety, not copycats.

I prefer Uncharted's non stop action pace than going around in circles looking for collectibles (some of them meaningless) distracting me from the story. That was one gripe I had about TR 2013. Hopefully ROTR fixed that.

Naughty dog (ND) does have a great track record, but they could disappoint. I was expecting Halo 5 to be great, like I’m expecting U4 to be great, but was disappointed in Halo 5. -I used to think uncharted was in a league of it’s own after I played uncharted 1&2. After U2, it became my favorite game franchise, as evidenced by my trophy list. Of all the games I played in the ps3 era, U1&2 are the only two games I have platinumed. Did everything there is to do in those games!

- so it was really surprising after I finished the trilogy and played uncharted 3(U3), then played the tomb raider reboot (TR) and to my surprise, I much preferred it to U3.
-both games have great graphics, but I find uncharted more cartoon and TR more grity- which translates to a more life like realistic presentation to me. Which I prefer.
- have to disagree about one being in a league of it’s own, they are both great fun great looking third person action adventure games. If anything separates them it’s game play and it can be argued that that would put TR in a league on it’s own because the gameplay variety and rpg elements (leveling up weapons, base camps, crafting ammo etc.) go in TR’s favor. Its like TR takes the best of Uncharted and Last of us and makes something wholly different and awesome with aspects of both.

-to each his own, but I disagree with your assessment as to why one of the games is in a league of it’s own. They are both great, even if your preference is for one over the other. For me, when I think about a league of it’s own, I imagine Super Mario Galaxy 1&2. I can’t think of another 3d platform that comes close with the game play mechanics and precise controls those game offers. I think that’s a better example of a game in a league of it’s own.

OT both games have pros and cons and can learn a thing from one another. Tomb Raider excels in its variety when it comes to gameplay which Uncharted 4 is experimenting with already. The Uncharted series excels in its story telling and cinematic vision which puts the franchise at the top of action/adventure genre.

I will playing both Uncharted 4 on my PS4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC roughly at the same time. It will be interesting to see which game hooks me more, whichever game does so will be the winner in my book. Currently replaying Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and enjoying it tremendously and slowly also replaying Tomb Raider (2013) on PC in 4k/60fps.

Uncharted will be doing its own thing.
As long as both are trying to improve and supersede their OWN previous game, then each will receive critical acclaim.
The trouble is that as good as Nuaghty Dog are,...they are placed upon a pedestal by some as being gods.
IF they do not live up to the promise of delivering a better incarnation of their previous uncharted games, due to fans high expectations, this then may cause a backlash on review scores.
Remember Naughty Dog for as good as they are, and at the top of their game can, like anyother fall, it's not about getting to the top but staying at the top is the problem.
As stated all they need to do is improve on what they created, and all will be happy

UC 4 is an great AAA exclusive from Dev First Party logical that he will receive more investment and will be further developed to be in a single platform and to use the full potential of it.soon you will have more chance to receive good ratings.

And as much as TR was first developed for the Xone game development has already been planned for other platforms as well as various PC hardware soon as the code has been designed to run well on other machines.

Just played the collection and forgot how disappointed I was with the constant waves of enemies and repetitive gameplay.
I only play uncharted for the story and characters.

Tomb raider for me has more compelling and engaging gameplay that allows always for new and different outcomes. The story may not be as good but I actually liked the first tomb raider overall more then the uncharteds.
Besides this is a clickbait article. Both games though easily compared are actually quite different from each other. In uncharted you don't go exploring. It is a linear story driven action platformer.
Tomb raider is non linear rpg story driven metroidvania like platformer.

I am pretty positive that UC4 will receive rave reviews. Still, I congratulate CD for RotTR. Based on UC's review history though, we can safely assume that UC4 will get an average Metacritic score of 9+.

Naughty Dog have little to prove. They had 4 games on the PS3, each better than the previous one (Okay, Okay, even I agree that UC2 was better than UC3 but this is subjective and the graphics were definitely better on the third one, alright?). 'The Last of Us' has done well both on the PS3 and the PS4. There is little to indicate that ND will not deliver what is expected of 'Uncharted 4' which is coming nearly 6 months after ROTR so I have no idea who these journalists are that think that UC4 will not be able to stand up to ROTR. In any case, they are very different games but with a similar or even the same theme. They would not be even compared were it not for that latter fact.

Sounds like you have issues with TPSs on consoles. Maybe its the point of view or the shooting mechanics that's bothering you.

With practice you can become a better gamer. I was terrible with FromSoftware games in the beginning but with plenty of practice you can master them. The same goes with any type of game.

don't look at digital found first, don't look at video reviews first.

And THEN after you've played the game and had a BLAST come and tell us how much fun you had. tell what your favourite part of the game was. what was the part you kept dying at, or the part your jaw hit the floor. or the part you didn't follow the story. of if you were X character how you would of done it etc.... and tell us how you didn't notice when the resolution changed from 1876x1080 to 1743x1081 and how you didn't notice when it dropped from 30 fps to 28.7 fps.

Many kids and young adults do it different today. They'll go read about all the miniscule flaws that 99 % of them wouldn't even notice 98% of the time. Then try and use that nonsense to justify why one game is better than the other.

The bottom line is the better game is the one you had more fun playing and that will vary from person to person.

Personally I enjoy TR more for the simple fact that it's open world and feels like I have more control of what happens as opposed to uncharted which is story driven and linear. I enjoy both but TR has the edge for me.

rise of the tomb raider is fantastic cinematic and has some of the best visuals i have seen on the xbox one so far, the facial animations are almost on par with until dawn, this game shows what the xbox one is capable off if developers put time and effort into utilizing the hardware to its fullest.

I don't know if Uncharted 4 will be better than Rise of the Tomb Raider, but I can tell from my experience in Rise of the Tomb Raider it has set the highest bar for any action-adventure so far this generation.

If you liked the reboot this game is even better! It has puzzle solving, platforming, collect-athons, upgrade elements, stealth, and action altogether. One of the best games so far this gen!

This is a different era or generation for consoles. I don't know what's going to happen. I know I'm not picking up Rise of the Tomb Raider for Xbox One. I'm going to wait and pick it up for the PS4 (my console of preference for multi-platform games, and I'm still working on Metal Gear Solid 5 anyway-open world games make for a lot of wasted time running from mission-to-mission, but I'm still enjoying it though not anywhere near as much as MGS4).

The thing is, this console generation there is a marginal difference in graphical quality. The Xbox One and PS4 have exactly the same GPU and CPU (looks like there was some corporate espionage going on there, but for Microsoft or Sony?) and the only thing the PS4 really has on the Xbox One is the GDDR5 RAM. That's it! To me, the PS4 is most appealing when it comes to installing games. on the PS4, I can install my game quickly and all the updating takes place in the background. Xbox One? Nope. Takes 32 minutes to install the game and then another 2 hours to update it so.... I have to wait 2 hours and 32 minutes to be able to play ONE game. That's unacceptable! I can at least play the single-player campaign on the PS4.

Last generation, however, the PS3 was totally unique when compared to the Xbox 360 and Wii U. Sure, the Xbox 360 was easy to develop for. IT WAS A PC! The PS3? No way! It was complicated because it was designed by a genius! Naughty Dog had shown how you could really use that beast. Sure, there weren't a lot of differences between multi-platform games, and the PS3 eventually surpassed the Xbox 360 graphically on multi-platform games. It was first-party games that really had shown what Sony had created. Ken Kutaragi was far too smart for any engineer on the Xbox team. The PS3 was using a 8-core processor practically already. The Xbox 360 was using a tri-core processor. The PS3's only realy dissavantage was they had divided up their RAM. a total of 512MB, just like the Xbox 360 but! The PS3 had it's RAM divided up. 256 system memory and 256 Video RAM (not good) but, Naughty Dog figured out how to use that and surpassed anything the Xbox 360 had (by a long shot!)

That's just my point. Last generation, by the time the PS3 was figured out, it was a HUGE difference and the power of the hardware was clear. It just took the right developer. This generation, the difference really is marginally. 900p isn't a big deal. 1080p is marginally higher resolution and a lot of games on PS4 are running at 30fps. These aren't the 4K possible machines we expected and it really didn't take long to max these machines out already because they're standard PC parts off the shelf that were created yesterday. The PS3 was built to endure the test of time and experienced a long life cycle. PS4 and Xbox One won't. So really, it's hard too tell. I can't disagree with this guy but, I can't agree with him either.

Tomb Raider is a great franchise and I get why people want to try and compare the two but the reality is TR is not on the same level as the Uncharted series, Uncharted will review better on all reputable, non biased fanboy, or payed off by Microsoft web sites, without question.
