80GB PS3 Official UK release date

Recently announced at E3, the 80GB PlayStation 3 finally has a release date in the UK, 29th August 2008, and will presumably be the same date across Europe.

if you're lucky and find a 60GB, all for ya. But otherwise, no. Just the 40GB and this 80GB probably wont either.
You guys are ripped off. Higher price, and pretty much impossible-to-find "premium" model, which still doesn't have full B/C.

and what's with no card readers and 2 USB ports?!?! I can find that stuff, but I sure don't want the clutter everywhere. Seriously stupid.

The only UK model with BC was the 60GB and they've been sold out for ages now.

The exchange rate to the US is hovering at about 99c to one aussie dollar atm. Yet an OZ 40gb costs $745. Wheres my 399 Ps3 sony?

It was 1035$, now afterwards i kinda whised i would have waited. But they are still expensive, they go for 657$ for the 40gb model :-(

yeah you're right the bc isn't a sought after feature for many of my friends but its nice having that option, my ps2 broke a long time ago and i still havent played ffxii haha (though i heard it's quite the disapointment)

If u really want to play ps2 games wouldnt u rather just buy a ps2 which u can get for cheap. I dont see the big deal about it, I would certainly not use my ps3 to play ps1 and ps2 games because I rather enjoy my ps3 games. I mean not only that but then u also take the risk of wearing out your bluray drive going back just to play ps2 games. Just stick with ps3 games and if u dont want a ps3 and rather play ps2 games, then just stay with the ps2.

I'm pretty sure that Europe will be jumping all over these 80GB PS3's because the 40GB PS3 has been the only system avaliable over there since like last year when Sony discontinued the 60GB PS3's.

but with out bc im still a bit dissappointed.

My ps2's laser is on its last leg and dosen't read dual layer discs anymore. Oh and for those always mentioning rrod this is my third ps2 which ive had to buy out of my own wallet.

yeah even after the remake for Europe i looked on my american account and the store just looks soo much nicer, everything is layed out as it should be simple, our Europe store is just all over the place lol
