Yes, I thought that the Wii U was going to get F-zero due to 200cc added to MK8. A NX launch title makes more sense. Can't wait to see what Nintendo has been holding back for the NX launch.

Completely Agree with KiwiVipers list if Nintendo Launchs the NX with Mario64K, Zelda Cross gen, and F-Zero or a Metroid side scroller from Retro with some decent 3rd party support it will be a hit. PS4 and X1 are lackluster.

I feel that Nintendo could actually just combine Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing. Maybe even drop the Mario or Diddy and just make a Nintendo All Star Kart Racing game and have the best elements from all the kart games in there plus a cast of characters from all of Nintendo's IP.

Like Smash Bros but kart racing.

New Zelda in not gonna happen. It takes far longer to make a console Zelda game than a handheld Zelda game due to Nintendo being far more ambitious with those.

The next one they make will take about 4-6 years to complete.

Unless it's a remake of an older game or a spin-off game like Hyrule Warriors, it ain't happening captain

Well considering that we are destined to hear NX news next year, that system isn't to far off. But PS5 is way, way out there and Sony definitely isn't thinking about killing their PS4 momentum just yet.

That's a silly comment. Two different situations I mean Nintendo has said Pikmin 4 is almost done, next year is Mario 64s anniversary , etc. much easier to predict NX titles than PS5 titles in 2018-2020. You're exaggerating

Maybe--but not by much. The NX hasn't even been announced yet. We know exactly as much about it as we do about any other future platform.

Even if it is coming out soon (which would be a suicidal move, so I'd say that's unlikely)... it'd at least a year away... not to mention the fact that all this speculation is more or less pipe dreams that don't resemble any launch line-up any platform has ever had in this medium's entire history.

Nintendo can do way better than that for the NX. What I really want them to push for is make the next Mario look as close to the SmashBros character reveal cgi. Specifically the one that introduced Charizard and Greninja. People would go nuts instantly over that!

But if the NX is even close to being a pretty powerful system, Nintendo should be able to achieve something close to these results.

Keeping a character model that detailed running at a steady frame-rate, in a game with lots going on, is something that not even the PS4 and XBone can do reliably in every game.

If the NX can accomplish such a feat, its innards are going to be beastly, and will likely sport a beastly price tag to compensate... which might complicate its sales chances.

@wonderfulmonkey: Yeah I can understand that, it's just when people want to point where future Mario games should go graphics wise, they always jump to some UE4 image which just isn't an evolution of Nintendo's art style.

Down the road when Nintendo can achieve the level of detail in game as those SmashBros pics. Then that's when they won't need to release another gaming system for quite some time...

I'm sorry but I never liked Mario's design in Smash. Too much detail ruins his charm if you asked me. I let it slide because he has to blend in with the rest of the fighters but honestly I'd never want them to go for that look.

Mario should look like he did in 3D world or the Galaxy games

I think he looks better in 3D World, to be honest. 3D World looks great. It uses simple geometry to make room for its brilliant shaders and solid 60fps framerate. With the NX I'd say just run with the same style and use better volumetric lighting and add particle effects like physically reactive water and sparks and render the bitch in 1080p 60fps. It'd be gorgeous.

I think mario could use a break. Bring fourth all of the other IP's for a while. Then, when Everyone is not expecting it, Release Mario with a widley increased world of characters never seen before. Much like they did with the release of Mario bro 3.

I think people are over-hyping this thing and are going to be disappointed when/if it's not excactly what they want and throw Nintendo back under the bus.

These articles are doing more harm than good because it's spreading misinformation and rumors.

Release an NX version of Zelda WiiU at launch to tide people over. Make it with enhanced graphics- you don't have to skimp on that just to please WiiU owners. They got the most out of their console with other games.

Work every hour possible to make a brilliant 'Realistic Mario' (and Donkey Kong if you like) game in Unreal Engine 4 quality graphics - with Retro Studios helping you if need be- and announce well in advance that it's coming so that people buy the system but don't release it any later than a year after the launch of the NX.

Seeing Nintendo characters in a more realistic way will be a selling point to attract some people back. Realism is not needed so much for Mario Kart but it would 'break the internet' if there was to be a realistic major 3D Mario game akin to Mario 64 / Banjo Kazooie type themes - castles, underwater etc.

By realistic I do mean very realistic. An experiment and not one that would ever be adopted for all Mario games of course nor should it. There's still room for a Paper Mario type game.

I would wager 3D Mario, Retro's game, and Zelda are the big ones.

If all three of these are present at launch and Retro is working on Metroid, in addition to any collabs like Platinum Games/Square/Bamco/Tecmo/Capco m then they could the most epic launch of any nintendo system in history.

First of all, the NX NEEDS to launch with a great Mario title! I always feel that a Nintendo console needs to launch with a Mario game.

Also I hope they are developing a new Metroid Prime game. The original Gamecube game is still one of my all time favorite video games ever! I'd love to see a proper follow up.

I'd also love to see a proper sequel to Luigi's Mansion. I really had a blast playing the 3DS version and I'd love to see a sequel with great CGI-level graphics.

I also hope the upcoming WiiU Zelda game is cross-released with both Wii U and NX, with the NX version receiving some enhancements.

Also, I really hope the NX is backwards compatible with all Wii, WiiU, and Nintendo Arcade titles. That alone will sell me the system.

Release this and you are golden Nintendo! 2016 is your year, take it! This is the time to completely revolutionize your company, games, online infrastructure and marketing strategy. Kick it off by naming the console the Nintendo Revolution =)

First and 3rd party exclusive games at launch: New Zelda, Super Mario Universe, F-Zero, Pilotwings, Contra, Castlevania, Wave Racer II, Turok Revolution, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters II, Metroid and Mega-man.

Compliment these exclusives with the latest multi-plats and you'll have a great shot at reaching that first year target of 20 million unit sales milestone. Especially if you can take this platform on the go with you as you please. I'm just as excited for the potential of the NX as I am for the release of VR in 2016!

While it is always good to be hopeful, you really need to temper your enthusiasm with reality. For over a decade, Nintendo has opted for substandard, feature-lacking hardware, and thrown in a gimmick to try to reel people in. They did this with the DS, Wii, 3DS, and Wii U. All of those consoles/handhelds were significantly weaker than the competition, and all ultimately had mediocre libraries of games to show for it.

The Wii U, in particular, was not built to be competitive at all, this generation. Too little RAM, weak CPU/GPU, no internal HDD, tiny amount of internal storage, no DVD/Bluray playback, the list goes on. It's a shame they cut so many features out of the base console, to accommodate the high cost of the gamepad.

As for NX, it is very unlikely that this will be a powerful, competitive piece of hardware. Nintendo just doesn't want to put a lot of expense into their hardware, instead preferring to provide the bare minimum (or below), and throw in a gimmick to spur sales. Theoretically this results in higher profits for the company, as it did with the Wii (for a while), but this same approach failed for the Wii U.

Let's hope they've learned some lessons from past failures, and can make the NX a genuinely powerful, competitive system. If they do, we all win, and get the great Nintendo games on great hardware as well! ;)

you've only pointed out the wii brand and DS/3DS brand life cycle. I believe before those they were pushing for stronger system but there was this big hurdle with system power and bottleneck and Nintendo used to point that out. Ofc the Cartridge was a fail on the ultra64 (when CD was taking off) and the mini-dvd(when dvd was taking off). I believe with the changing of executive powers, things might change a little. obviously they can't keep going sub-standard when the demand for a specific amount of power if required for their 3rd parties. Things might be better HW wise...
