Today Scalebound Creative Director Hideki Kamiya was on Crackdown‘s Extra Life livestream alongside Executive Producer Atsushi Inaba and Creative Producer Jean-Pierre Kellams, and they talked quite a bit about Scalebound, their work at PlatinumGames and more.
Legendary game designer Hideki Kamiya has expressed interest in directing a new game in Capcom's Dino Crisis series.
I'd say start with a remake. The original had some neat ideas but can greatly be expanded upon. Like trapping dinos behind laser barricades or tranq-ing them into submission. There is a lot of room to explore and flesh out these quirky gameplay mechanics.
If this happens then I hope they give us different level of dinasors some of them smart than other and of course good story and great gameplay
"I felt bad that it was being criticized so much, but I'm glad that it seems to be doing well in both sales and reviews."
Sure this 'Japanese guy' might be happy but what about the Western grifters? What about what they want?
Hideki Kamiya is still interested in developing Scalebound, after the PlatinumGames and Microsoft action game was cancelled back in 2017.
He's been begging for the past three years. That ship has long sailed. Besides, Phil's a fake. When's the last time he delivered on a game the fans asked for? Still waiting on him to greenlight KI4.
I mean I'm all for it... I'd buy it for PS5 since Xbox is doing these multiplatform releases now
Scalebound was my reasoning for buying and Xbox one. Legit my biggest let down last gen
Seems odd to be asking for it now that he left Platinum Games. He'll be busy with Okami 2 for a number of years, does he expect to develop the game at Clovers studio now? Would they be picking up where they left off, or starting over again? Any of the previous team members, or just him?
I doubt Phil would fund it again, but if so, then that would be good news, also fund a new Banjo as well as Conker games while you're at it. I miss Conker!
Hopefully they'll release the Japanese voices as an option for the Western release.
"When PlatinumGames create games, the designers keep making them harder and harder as things go on, while producers tend to try and make them easier, so a good balance point is normally found by combining the two points of view."
nice
Kamiyas favorite game outside of Platinums own titles is Forza Horizon 2??? Nice. The game is great though and I've actually seen a few people who are not even into racing games enjoy FH2..
Platinum seem to make a lot of games. How many teams do they have?
I am looking forward to both Scalebound and Nier. Both are in my 10 most anticipated games list.
Super hyped for Scalebound and I definitely have to try Bayonetta one day (I know right, I haven't even played it!).
The next project that Platinum Games should work should be a Thundercats hack and slash. My wallet is waiting......
