Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 pre-orders 'significantly' higher than Advanced Warfare

Pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 are "significantly" higher than those for last year's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Activision has revealed.

Speaking during last night's earnings call, Eric Hirshberg, president and CEO, explained why the publisher is so confident about the game's imminent launch.

"We couldn't be more excited about the launch this Friday," said Hirshberg. "We have strong momentum indicated by a number of factors, but just to name a few: the growing engagement around the past Black Ops titles; the significant year-on-year lift in pre-orders; consumer sentiment around our marketing assets which is more positive for Black Ops III than any Call of Duty title on record; a great partnership with Sony across consumer, trade and custom PS4 bundles; and our ranking as Neilson's Number One Most Anticipated Title of the Year."

The reasons I will be buying it this time round is because:

1. Treyarch has developed it.
2. Treyarch has had 3 years to do this game not the usual 2 year Dev cycle.
3. Zombie look bigger and better than ever.
4. It will make the 4 days less painful for waiting for fallout 4 to come through my letterbox.
5. I enjoyed the beta and this time around not everyone is superman.

That PlayStation co-marketing campaign works both ways. Showing the game off to the biggest install base of new-gen owners at E3 and Paris Games Week is going to have a very positive impact.

Treyarch is the only good dev making Call Of Duty games, the other two are just tarnishing its already poor reputation to hardcore gamers... its a shame really. They should just release Cod games every 3 years with treyarch !

I believe that marketing deal that Sony have with COD will really bring great results. Is going to be interesting to see who emerge the winner of November between COD, Star Wars and Fallout 4. I still think it was a mistake for Tomb Raider to release the same time as those ultra big games.

Tomb Raider will get eaten up by the releases next to it. Shame for Microsoft really because getting a game like tomb raider as a time exclusive was a massive coup, but its just gonna go to waste..

Who has to believe hype... there was a beta. We tried it out to see if it sucked like Ghosts, or was a 3D pinball game (the exo-movement) like AW, it wasn't.

More subtle exo-movement + wall running >>>>> pinball exo-movement.

Nuketown

Characters with their rechargeable things. Really adds some additional flavor. A great addition.

The last CoD I enjoyed was BLOPS2, hell they even made the Wii U version with it's AWESOME gamepad killstreaks. (i.e. instead of moving a thing around the screen to select where to missile hits which takes time, you could POINT to it, and point to it much, much faster).

Ghosts was trash, and while AW was better, it still sucked because the exo-movement destroyed the gameplay, plus I really didn't like waiting for weapon drops and having to clear out my inventory, etc, etc.

BLOPS3 is a return to balance. More maneuverability, but not crazy jump fest. Great maps, a Chappie-Johnny 5-Terminator killstreak, Demolition mode WITH respawns (very important to have the respawns part), nuketown, zombies, even some other stuff.

The wall running mode I just heard about will be great for people to practice and get used to doing that. A great introduction.

Fallout 4, RB6: Siege, and Battlefront are also pre-ordered. Next purchases will be Xenoblade and Splatoon.
