Every year a new Call of Duty comes out and every year fans’ expectations are not met. What ends up being released each year is a very similar game with an almost identical experience. Should a new Call of Duty be released every year?
No, but I said that 5 years ago and nobody listened. Meanwhile I have accepted that it's just like EA's annual sports games and it's best to only buy the game every other year to not get burned out by it.
The better question is: should millions of gamers buy CoD games each and every year? Activision is just doing what any normal person would do let alone a multi-billion $ company.
Yes, just like other sports game. We have new maps, new DLC maps, some random novelty, new gun balance. I like it. It's more than most sports games.
I am more OK with it now they have a 3 year development cycle.
Technically its released every 3 years, not yearly. Three developers, three individual takes on the games. Call of Duty is just the title. Treyarch, Sledgehammer, and IW don't released their work yearly.
Technically, yeah you are right. But lets be honest. Its all the same franchise and every version is the same thing with only minor details changed. Mostly cosmetic type things like time period. There is almost no difference at all between, say, Blops and Modern Warfare. They are largely the same game with meaningless differences between the two.
Very true. I hadn't touched a CoD title before AW since MW2. Played it a bit, and traded it in. Still the same game to me. Be nice if Treyarch could just release the zombie mode as a separate download
I'd probably say yes if we actually saw some meaningful advances in gameplay and weren't given the same rehashed game from last year with new maps and guns. I get it though, business is business, and this game sells so why mess with a proven formula. But I think we can all agree people are slowly getting burned out and eventually Acticash will be forced to make some changes, but until we see a drastic decline in sales, this will never happen. Blops3 looks to be the most robust CoD we've had Ina while but in the end it's just another CoD with no real revolutionary impact. Remember when CoD games got game of the year? Yeah there's a reason that doesn't happen anymore...
cod along with every other yearly game needs a break
