NieR: Automata Will Have Multiple Protagonists, Costume Breaks, And A “Happy Ending”

Square Enix recently revealed some of the latest on NieR: Automata, and director Taro Yoko and producer Yosuke Saito shared more details on the upcoming PlayStation 4 action RPG in interviews with Famitsu and Dengeki.

I didn't play the first and probably won't bother now (although I hear it's good) but I'll definitely be getting this. From what I've seen it looks great. Also some of the enemies remind me of giant robotic Tonberries xD

Technically it's a sequel, but It's in another era, so thestories are barely connected, if not at all. Though there will be someminor references to the previous game.

I'm still trying to figure out is it a RPG action game or just an action game? After playing the first game it had a lot of RPG elements in it.

Happy End? oh thank god cause the endings for Drakengard 3 were some of the most twisted, depressing stuff i've seen in a video game. Most of the Nier, Drakengard games don't have good endings like really good endings so hopefully something more pleasant happens in this one.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Finally! and no goody-two-shoe endings please. I'll go with though provoking story driven by tragedy rather than the typical everyone wins at the end peachy-warm-fuzzy that is typically found in JRPGs/JARPGs.

Neir is not a tale for kids to swallow. That's why it got a facelift and tailored story during the localization process to appeal to an older audience before it hit stateside. I am glad that they omitted the teenage hero typically found in this genre, it gave the game so much more substance with the father and daughter bond.
