Doesnt the game have a day 1 patch or something?

fallacious3462d ago

it's practically mandatory right now

scientificreasoning3462d ago

Day 1 patch is not going to add shadows.

Forn3462d ago (Edited 3462d ago )

Yeah, but 1080p though... Isn't resolution the only aspect of visuals for games?...

ShinMaster3461d ago

It could.

The shadows are there when you get closer to the objects.
It has more to do with the shadow casting distance.

porkChop3461d ago

It could. Dying Light received a patch after release that added dynamic shadows on PS4.

My_Outer_Heaven3462d ago

The E3 demos most likely showed of the PC versions so people can see how gorgeous the game could theoretically look but console will have certain things sacrificed in order to keep the game running at 30fps. I reckon the PS3 version might have a slight edge over the Xbox One version because of its extra power.

Erik73573462d ago

Wasn't the game's demo done on October and ps4....lol "missing shadows"

Big_Game_Hunters3462d ago (Edited 3462d ago )

Its bethesda, you are gonna have to wait for the modders to fix it.

It wouldn't be first time when e3 fotage turn out to be a bullshot ;d
Well lets hope it wont affect pc

Genuine-User3462d ago

To be fair, the game is not a looker.

fitfox3462d ago

Neither was fallout 3 but it didnt matter

audiocafe3462d ago

I suppose you're right. It's a good looking game considering the possible scope of the game but honestly even at E3 the visuals weren't exactly cutting edge.

Mikeockizard3462d ago

Uggh, that's pretty bad that it needed a downgrade from the E3 graphics. Those visuals looked like a decent looking last gen game to be honest.

The game will still be amazing no doubt, but it is getting to the point where Bethesda are resting on their IP names alone to sell, rather than keep up with industry standards in technology. Their "Creation engine" aka Gamebryo is what like 15 years old now? Time to pay a couple bucks for a decent engine guys (I'm pretty sure you can afford it after making billions-literally off your customers). If I see one more Elder Scrolls/Fallout game with crappy faces and stilted animation....Yeah, I will still probably buy it as will everyone else, but come on, take a little pride!

That being said, these games definitely don't deserve 9.5/10 anymore. Although visuals don't make the game, they ARE part of the game, and a game that looks like this should be taken down a point or two.

yellowgerbil3462d ago

So a movie like Nightmare before Christmas isn't as good as a movie like Cars, because one has technically superior graphics?
Graphics only matter if they break a game. I don't see anything that will break the game or effect immersion. So I couldn't care less.

Yui_Suzumiya3462d ago

Sorry but I love the engine and graphics.

attilayavuzer3462d ago

@yellowgerbil

Terrible comparison for many reasons; primarily, cause NBC is stop motion and Cars is CGI.

OP is just saying that if a movie from 2015 was released on blu ray in both 720i and 1080p, one of those versions would be docked on presentation alone.

That being said, I actually think Fallout 4 looks nice graphically. It's not pushing any boundaries per say, but it was also in development far before anyone had an idea of what current gen consoles would be spec'd at.

yellowgerbil3462d ago (Edited 3462d ago )

@attila
I chose those movies specifically FOR THAT REASON.
To look at a claymation it is malformed, raw, and antiquated. But still is an extremely appealing film, and the look is a big part of that.
The same goes for Fallout.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To look at that deathclaw is to stare death in the eye.

attilayavuzer3461d ago

@yellowgerbil

My point was that the 35mm film used to capture NBC is for all intents and purposes a technically superior format (in terms of presentation) to the technology Cars was created with in 04-06.

But I now see that you were referring to the content itself rather than the technology used to create it.

cartoonx13462d ago

there is no downgrade, there have been posts which suggest game look even better thn e3, also e3 footage just might be from highest setting on PC.

AnotherProGamer3462d ago

I remember when people say that about Dark Souls 2, Watch Dogs, and Witcher 3

"No guys this is the console version, the PC version will look like the E3 demo!"

Dynasty20213462d ago (Edited 3462d ago )

100% always-follow-rule for E3:

Everything you see is not running on consoles. It's running on PC to look as good as possible to suck you in.

Even Uncharted 4 looks worse than its' reveal.

Germany73462d ago

Uncharted 4 was running on PS4 during E3.
But nice try.

Forn3462d ago (Edited 3462d ago )

Uncharted 4 does NOT look worse visually now than it did at E3. The multiplayer will take a small hit visually, though still look remarkable, so as to reach 60fps. Other than that it looks/will look even better than it did at E3 for the singleplayer. In fact, all PS4 exclusives have only improved visually since their reveal build compared to their release build. Not to mention all the other technical stuff going on under the hood in PS4 games. Nice try though.

DeToX4203462d ago

Shouldn't have mentioned the golden console here come the vultures.

Loktai3462d ago

Hah please provide an example of this. . . Oh wait you can't because you're wrong.

guyman3461d ago (Edited 3461d ago )

"Even Uncharted 4 looks worse than its reveal"

Nice try, but there's no downgrade there.

Erik73573462d ago

They didn't really market this game on graphics so I doubt it's a downgrade, the ps4 version is just not the same as the version they demoed on pc.

DrJones3462d ago

The e3 one is from the PC version. That's why it looked better.

BallsEye3461d ago

It probably was PC, played with XO controller. Consoles still should be able to pull off e3 graphics without stress. Problem is super old engine bethesda keep on upgrading. Remember, no matter how much you'll upgrade your 40s ford, it will never be Lamborghini Huracan.

Meh, it looks OK nothing more.

WellyUK3462d ago

The one at night looking over the town looks terrible. But the daytime shots all look great.

AbleAmazing3462d ago

The game doesn't look fantastic. And, it doesn't matter to me either. Still going to be great.

Fallout 4 on Switch 2 seems inevitable, but what about Starfield?

A Fallout 4 Nintendo Switch 2 port seems like an inevitability, but what about other Bethesda RPGs like Starfield.

I think all games will end up on switch from Xbox. MS has embraced going to other platforms now if games aren't doing well on Nintendo MS may be more selective in the future

On playstation they have been quite successful

anast16d ago

I'm not sure too many people want to play Starfield.

Profchaos16d ago

Phils all but confirmed they are going in hard with the switch 2

TheColbertinator16d ago

All are welcome to Switch 2. Microsoft Games Studios is interested in long term profits and market value not petty fanboy thoughts.

Starfield is actually a RPG. Bethesda hasn't done that in a while.

GhostScholar117d ago

People acted like starfield was so less interesting than fallout and drastically different, but I call bs on that. Both are decent games, but they are both filled with the appearance of things to do and items to interact with but 99 percent are just there to be there with no significance. Fallout has better character work but they are both sort of illusions that they’re vast.

Shiore2u117d ago

Studio has been going downhill since Skyrim. Every following game gets dumbed down more than the previous. I'll be shocked if Elder Scrolls VI even has dialogue options.

anast117d ago

Fallout 4 was bad, real bad. Starfield might even be a better RPG.

trez1082117d ago

Fallout 4 wasn’t a great fallout game per se but real bad? I don’t know maybe I’m a little biased because I replied it not long ago and had fun with it.
