in a perfect world we would get fallout3/new vegas with all the dlc in one package remastered for ps4/xbox one

also we would get skyrim on ps4/xbox one

also witcher 1-2 on ps4/xbox one

_-EDMIX-_3529d ago

I mean unless someone is a huge RPG fan, I don't really see much reason for it as a gamer. In terms of business, sure, makes complete sense.

I'm re-playing Fallout 3 right now, but when Fallout 4 comes out, I'm all in to Fallout 4....I won't spend time on Fallout 3 or NV etc. Why? Well if Fallout 4 is as long as they say, I will be playing it for some time.

It would be better if in one package for pre-order a month before or even 2 months before you got the download but only if you clearly paid in full lol. The download to Fallout 3 and NV, that would be pretty cool, I mean for a special edition, I would pay extra for that on a new system if it came with a steel case, art book etc.

Though I already own all the games you listed, I might replay them, so why not replay them on new systems?

I like your point, only thing I would change is when those games would come to us, I don't see me spending much time with Fallout 3 or NV after Fallout 4 comes out.....like any lol.

Maybe, but Fallout 4 will have my time for a while. I rarely even replay rpgs, only because Fallout 3 has such a short main quest and I'll only play a few favorite side quest before release, something like 10 hours or so.

RpgSama3529d ago

Dude, FULL respect to you, but my head hurts from reading your comment, hahaha.

showtimefolks3529d ago

yeah i kind of see your point but witcher 1-2 on ps4/xbox one makes a lot of sense and could make cd project red more money to invest of cyberpunk 2077

also there was talk of skyrim for next gen since dishonored got a ps4/xbox one version.

no offense but maybe you don't want them doesn't mean many fans will actually get these games if re released

skyrim would look so good

_-EDMIX-_3529d ago

@Showtime- agreed. I know too, its why I stated.

"Though I already own all the games you listed, I might replay them, so why not replay them on new systems?"

If someone didn't play them, by all means buy the better version, also my view is based on a gamers stand point, not a business one.

On a business note, yes, yes and god YES! The port of those titles can earn that team lots of money, have fans catch up to the series, re-play them etc.

I also See Skyrim and maybe even Fallout 3 getting ports in higher resolution, mods etc. I see no reason not to, consider they can make more money.

I'm not trying to come off as "I played them thus screw the rest" lol, I was just saying that for me personally, I would 100% buy new versions of those titles if I never played them and my comments regarding what I own where just about my situation.

ironcrow23863529d ago

also as great a game F3 is there no relevance to explore anywhere bar to level grind; as u say the main quest is so short followed by the fact theres next to no side quests (when compared to other RPGs) so hopefully F4; with its proposed 400hr gameplay, rectifys that problem

_-EDMIX-_3529d ago

@Ironcrow- "as u say the main quest is so short followed by the fact theres next to no side quests"

I would never say all that, Fallout 3 the meat of the game is the side quest, I put about 90 hours in that game with those side quest adding about 80 hours of it.

Fallout 3 has a lot of side quest.

AidenPearce3529d ago

@Showtimefolks

I get your point, but with the Witcher games, especially Witcher 1, it would take a long time to remaster it. TW 1 is outdated as hell, so much work would be required to update it.

RPGs in general are very huge in scale and content, remastering and/or remaking them would take a long time, most devs would rather focus on new games, and IMO they should.

_-EDMIX-_3529d ago

@AidenPearce - Who is to say CDPR would even do the remaster?

They could just have another team actually do it and porting titles isn't that complex, they are not remaking it. They very much could pay a port team to bring it over while they make Cyberpunk 2077.

I'm pretty doubtful they would personally handheld the port as most times that is not the case with porting over titles.

I love Fallout to death so yes on that and I've never played Witcher so hell yes on that. My girlfriend loves Skyrim so that can be for her :D

--bienio--3529d ago

Then You can say Console Remaster Race rules haha

ironcrow23863529d ago

so point 1; F3 comes to xbox but not ps4..point 2; all this talk of mods and theres no explanation in how to get them (I assume there.ll be no steam like workshop a la skyrim)and point 3; yay only 2weeks to go woohoo :)

Eidolon3529d ago (Edited 3529d ago )

Hope they will just have a repository for the MODs, and it looks like they will be cross-platform, which is great. Fallout 4 has to be my most anticipated title this year.

eddvdm3529d ago (Edited 3529d ago )

About where to get them "officially" won't be through steamworks, it'll be Bethesda.net as confirmed by himself: https://twitter.com/DCDeaco...

Besides speculations of that strategy being for future paid mods etc etc I don't know and frankly I don't care.

Fortunately PC players have Nexus and the really creative people are there. They probably will publish any permitted/compatible mods at Bethesda.net, but forget about those who made the name and history on Bethesda games mods, which normally are overhauls, "unnoficial patches", script-extender-based, adult content and whatnot.

I honestly feel sorry about console players - the hype Bethesda is trying to put on "console mods", as far as my experience with mods goes, will be like 20-30% of what mods have done to their other games.

s45gr323529d ago

Is a start a whole lot better than what EA is doing with battlefont or Square Enix with Rise of tomb raider or microtransanctions with MGS V. Consoles are not powerful enough to get the beastly mods of PC; however, it will hopefully wake console gamers to see that mods are just free dlc/microtransanctions.

eddvdm3529d ago

Agreed, nonetheless it's a good start for a better awareness.

ironcrow23863529d ago

ive seen descriptions on how to download mods to but coz I'm not particularly computer literate it all sounds gobblygook to me..on the other hand other hand I'm greatly confident pete hines, todd howard etc have made an amazing game where mods arnt even needed for a long time :)

BattleAxe3529d ago (Edited 3529d ago )

"Bethesda’s Pete Hines Talks Fallout 4 Mods on Consoles and Denies Possibility of Fallout 3 on PS4"

This is where backwards compatibility will start to become a huge benefit to Xbox. I would imagine that the next time backwards compatibility will become an issue in the news, will be when the next Mass Effect game comes out, especially with Mass Effect 1 already announced for BC.

_-EDMIX-_3529d ago

I really don't know. I'm playing Fallout 3 right now....

I don't know how much of a benefit it will be for XBONE in terms of sales, for consumers pretty huge, especially before a title comes out, for publishers also would be slightly better as they can get money from downloads of those that want to buy those titles digitally if they don't already own them.

As someone that is currently playing lots of old titles and still owns a current gen system, I just don't know how much that might effect XBONE as a whole.

It will get used, clearly, will it boost sales? This year and next spring is already jam packed with current gen only titles, I don't know how much time I might spend in the next 6 months on last gen titles.

If I had a XONE, I mean I would still use the feature on certain titles lol Like you said, playing Mass Effect over again before the new one releases.

FoxyGotGame3529d ago

All this hype over B/C and most gamer's I speak to on both X1 & PS4 just want new exciting experiences.

B/C is undeniably a neat feature to have at the start of a new generation, but 2 years in? I feel like okay, whatever man /

_-EDMIX-_3529d ago

@thatPSguy- I agree, its a great feature and MS is doing a great job really for all publishers are they are showing a layout of how Sony might do BC next gen using x86.

But people ultimately buy current gen, to play current gen IPs. I still play many last gen titles lol, but I also value them enough to never sell my PS3, also many of my titles are on PC and I can still currently play them.

My reasons for buying a XONE will be for titles only on XONE vs titles I already own. I will still play a few older titles next year, Mirrors Edge 1 maybe, Mass Effect 1-3 etc, but not as much as new titles.

I think its good MS is doing this as they likely know they won't get some huge sales boost due to this. Like you stated, 2 years in....won't make much of a big deal in sales, but I'm not sure MS did this for sales. They know those stats better then us lol.

Hopefully next gen with both systems likely still using X86, we can have a format and layout for emulation and BC on both platforms day 1. It would be nice to have such a thing for gaming to preserve titles for the long run like how film has BC to other models ie DVD, Bluray, 4K all can be played on the same higher plays. I'm sure the new format for fill will support all 3.

Gaming should be that way so publisher make money, gamers get to play their older titles and console makers can also make money on their own software long term. Its a win/win, but for many its not a must, if each come out with only next gen only titles, I'm sure gamers woulds still buy them.

freshslicepizza3529d ago

it's a nice benefit but i don't think it will be huge. what's nice is they are throwing it in for free with the purchase of fallout 4. that's great marketing as consumers love free stuff even if they don't really use it much.

these guys don't seem like the remastered type of guys. they let the pc community fool around with the games instead. good news is the ps4 and xbox one will both allow mods

s45gr323529d ago

That's good news hopefully this decreases microtransanctions, dlc on consoles. Console gamers will finally understand that mods are just free dlc.

PreAtaric3529d ago

Getting Fallout 4 mods first is a bigger deal than BC, which is a nice feature but not something that will push new consoles off the shelves in a big way. BC has never been a killer feature, though it's good to have at the beginning of a generation when there aren't many games to play.

Mostafeto3528d ago

The backwards compatibility will mostly be used by players to play older favorite titles or previous franchise installments a couple of weeks before a new one releases so I don't see it being used THAT much. However, it's a really cool feature to have. I respect Microsoft for doing it, but I don't think Sony will do it.

Hold_It3529d ago (Edited 3529d ago )

I love how they call it denying possibility. It's not coming because Sony wants PS Now instead of Backwards Compatibility, and MS doesn't want to charge people for backwards Compatibility it's that simple.

Benjammin253529d ago

"MS doesn't want to charge people for backwards compatibility." Haha! You're comment made me laugh. Don't talk as if MS is some knight in shining armour. They would love to charge for backwards compatibility. But they're so far behind Sony at this point they needed an ace in the hole.
By the way, if MS are so great, why didn't they ship the Xbox One with backwards compatibility in the first place if it was so easy to do? By the way, games are still being remastered all the time on PS4, so to rule out the possibility of a fallout 3 remaster further down the road would be foolish.

Hold_It3528d ago (Edited 3528d ago )

Clearly you are upset, as the tone of your comment sounds like you are manic. You're? You know You're means you are. Your is possessive. As far as their network goes I might as well consider them a "knight in shining armor". They are letting me get all of my old purchases back from XBLA and Microsoft Store, so I don't have to redownload anything I've bought previously as long as it works on Xbox One.

Sony on the other hand doesn't believe in allowing me to have "free" downloadable PS Now versions of Full PS3 games that I have bought before that are on their catalog. I don't really care if that's not how PS Now was intended, or whether their servers can't allow that, it's the fact that they aren't letting anyone do it. I guess it's whatever though, because I play my PS3 more than I play my PS4.

"They would love to charge for backwards compatibility, but they're so far behind Sony at this point they needed an ace in the hole."

They might be behind Sony in sales, but it's whatever as far as that goes, as they are selling better than the 360, and the 360 did very well last gen. I doubt they would charge, because they haven't had to find a bunch of low quality indie games to include in their monthly subscription to "encourage" you to keep it.

The sales on Xbox are better. Any time I see a PS Flash sale there is at the most two games I would actually buy from the list that I don't own already on my PS4/PS3/Vita.

I would say Xbox has the best online pricing for their games, then Sony, with Nintendo last because Nintendo hardly every has permanent price drops, let alone decent sales on anything on the eShop. I was surprised they had SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked on sale for $9.99 last week, and of course I snatched that up.

"By the way, games are still being remastered all the time on PS4, so to rule out the possibility of a fallout 3 remaster further down the road would be foolish"

I know they are, I also own a PS4. I also know that the last "big game" to come out for PS4 this year is a remaster. I wouldn't think it's foolish to rule out the possibility, they will more than likely throw the game on PS Now and make you rent it instead of getting a physical copy, as they are trying to recuperate their losses on Gaikai.

At the end of the day everyone has their own opinion, and mine is I only own my PS4 for their exclusive Japanese games, not the cinematic over the top movies they try to sell me like Uncharted and Beyond Two Souls. I like it when the games I play feel like a game, not a movie. At this rate I'd much rather play Halo and Gears and be able to play games I missed out on the previous generation version for free than be subjected to get another subscription like Netflix to play a handful of games that interest me.

madmonkey013528d ago

ps now isnt about backwards compatibility, its on ps3, psvita, and smart tvs.

Hold_It3528d ago

@madmonkey01 PS Now is a form of backwards compatibility that they are charging you for since they bought Gaikai (OnLive). They are using their version of cloud computing to allow you to stream older Playstation games. I guess if you want to be technical about it, it's not "native" backwards compatibility.

timmyp533529d ago

It's a bit silly asking them if backwards compatibility isn't available . Kind of common sense.

Mostafeto3528d ago

Why not ask? The PS4 has a lot of remastered/remade games, and almost all of them succeeded like The Last of Us Remastered and Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection. so why not ask them to do Fallout 3? Although it's obvious that it's not coming since why would people play Fallout 3 after Fallout 4 launches which looks better and maybe even better gameplay, but that judgement needs to be made after launch.

timmyp533528d ago

In a perfect world they'd give console gamers the entire anthology including 1&2 but all were getting from them is a thumbs up for backwards compatibility.

Starfield is actually a RPG. Bethesda hasn't done that in a while.

GhostScholar179d ago

People acted like starfield was so less interesting than fallout and drastically different, but I call bs on that. Both are decent games, but they are both filled with the appearance of things to do and items to interact with but 99 percent are just there to be there with no significance. Fallout has better character work but they are both sort of illusions that they’re vast.

Shiore2u179d ago

Studio has been going downhill since Skyrim. Every following game gets dumbed down more than the previous. I'll be shocked if Elder Scrolls VI even has dialogue options.

anast178d ago

Fallout 4 was bad, real bad. Starfield might even be a better RPG.

trez1082178d ago

Fallout 4 wasn’t a great fallout game per se but real bad? I don’t know maybe I’m a little biased because I replied it not long ago and had fun with it.
