Diablo 3 Art Department in Disarray?

Blizzard is seeking a new Art Director for Diablo III. Brian Morrisroe was D3’s art director as recently as late June, when he moderated the Environmental Art Design panel at Blizzard’s WWI event in Paris. Besides the Art Director post, there are several other key D3 art jobs listed on Blizzard’s Jobs page, and rumors have been flying about internal upheaval in the D3 art department — perhaps related to the ongoing "too colorful/WoW-like" art controversy?

While those were recently addressed in a media interview, they were addressed by Jay Wilson, Diablo 3’s lead producer. Wouldn’t the art director have been a more logical choice for that duty?

Update: Blizzard PR has released a statement: "Regarding Brian, he recently resigned to form a startup technology company (outside the game industry), which is why we’ve posted about the open position. This change won’t impact the game…"
