Code: Realize - Guardian of Rebirth - PS Vita Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:

Otome adventures are not the most popular of titles here in the US at this point, but we have seen more chances being taken by publishers of late, and I feel we are better for it. More options to choose from is a good thing, and the PlayStation Vita has proven to be a natural landing point for some of these niche titles. Code: Realize - Guardian of Rebirth is a stylish, entertaining visual novel that will not be for everyone, but for those looking for something different and deeper to delve into, you could do a lot worse than this offering.

Really liked the spoiler free but detailed overlook. I do not have much experience with visual novels, but find myself getting more and more intrigued by them. In your opinion is the Vita dead or is it still worth the investment?

I played 999 and part of Zero Escape, love em. I still think there is plenty of games to play if you're new to Vita, otherwise, there isn't really much coming out that won't be on PS3/PS4/Mobile. A lot of Japanese visual novel type games and JRPGs coming out, though, so if you're into that.

I'm still debating just because I have random breaks of downtime in the lab and would like to be able to just pull something out quick. Do you have any suggestions of ways I can give visual novels a go before jumping into a vita?

Maybe Phoenix Wright, there's mobile version. If you have a DS/3DS, there's several visual novels on there, and 999 was pretty good. Really it comes down to appreciating point-click style, art, character development, and story.. if you can get into a good show, you can easily get into a visual novel.

2019 is a big year for otome fans. A region that is normally lucky to get a localization of any otome games is getting the second fan disc for one. It is a big deal. But, someone might also see Code: Realize ~Wintertide Miracle~ about to realize and wonder what is the big deal and how to start getting into this series.

Code: Realize’s Cardia is a perfect Halloween heroine

Michibiku's Jenni Lada writes, "It’s pretty easy to see why Aksys has localized and released many of the otome visual novels the company has picked up. With Hakuoki, we’re looking at an established series with anime tie-ins. Picking up subsequent ports is simple enough, since nearly all the translation work is already done. Picking up Sweet Fuse: At Your Side made sense due to Keiji Inafune and artwork by Kumiko Suekane, who drew the characters from Ace Attorney, helps. But Code: Realize ~Guardian of Rebirth~ is a bit of a mystery. It doesn’t have those influential connections, making it a more risky endeavor."
