Square Enix Will Revitalize Old IPs For Consoles&Mobile, While Also Exploring VR & Creating New IPs

The latest Square Enix annual report has a lot of interesting information regarding their future development plans.

Aa soon as I saw that I got excited. But have since forgotten what game I was hoping would be announced... Oh well. Square Enix have a good back catalog and their reboot of Deus Ex was amazing, so more of the same please!

I just hope if they're going to make mobile versions of these resurrected IPs, that they will be completely separate from those for consoles/PC.

I think that after 3rd Birthday it's time for a reboot, but as long as the gameplay is the same as the first two games I'd take a sequel/prequel, too, for sure!

I'm actually proud of Square. It seems like every since they admitted a few years ago that changing the focus to try and cater to every possible demographic wasn't such a good idea, they've really turned things around and been all about trying to cater to the fanbase that has kind of made them so reputable.

A new Dissidia, Final Fantasy XV incoming, Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Star Ocean, NieR and now this news just solidifies their mentality to revive old IPs from the past.

I believe Parasite Eve is a possibility because it could really work, and it was referenced in the FF7 Remake trailer, which means they haven't forgotten about it. A revival of the Chrono Trigger IP perhaps?

More Companies should follow down this path, less down the path like Konami. Absolutely dreadful.

I feel like listing all the franchises I want like I did for over a decade, but I don't know if I even want to anymore. Not like it makes a difference. I doubt Square will really do what they're supposed to with legendary franchises like Chrono Trigger, Parasite Eve, Final Fantasy Tactics, Threads of Fate, and Vagrant Story. But we will see...

I would love a new Front Mission! Xenogears-I don't see them doing anything else except maybe a mobile port. Xenoblade scratches the itch for a new Xenogears though!
