TGR Interview: Denis Dyack - Too Human, E3, and Working in Canada

"TGR: You mentioned Diablo. Too Human is kind of a similar vein to that. People like to make that connection.

DENIS: As to substance, yes for sure, it has some similarities. The only concern I have with the perception is that people need to understand that the game play in Too Human is fundamentally different. With Diablo, you will go after a mob and just wear it down. If you get the best loot, you should win. In Too Human, that is not the case. You need to know how to take out the shields - if you should take the missile guy first, the troll, or the leader. If you do not do that, you are going to die an awful lot. And that is the fundamental difference. That is the only concern that I have. I think Diablo is great."

I'm still on the fence on Too Human, but I did enjoy meeting Mr. Dyack at E3...

You read about him so much in the press, especially pertaining to Too Human, that he comes off as a bit of a prick. Then I read his interviews and he seems like an average guy. I don't know what to think.

He was really down to earth and really friendly when we had a chance to talk to him.

I'm still noy completely sold on the game. I'll have to wait to get my hands on the full version

Right now it is sexy to be against this game and MS having a successful new IP.

Would-be game journalists will love or hate it too the extreme just to draw attention to their review article.

I am anxious for the reviews, however, from the more reputable sites.

Even the most reputable sites have problems with writing critical reviews of popular games. I'm sure the little sites will be bad, but I don't expect the big sites to be any better... maybe the magazines, but maybe not.
