Hands On with the Star Wars Battle Pod at NYCC - Worth $35K?

BNR: During the 2015 New York Comic Con, one of the coolest things that I got to experience was the Star Wars Battle Pod- specifically, the brand new flat screen edition of the arcade machine- it was generally a cool experience that put me in the cockpit of an X-Wing, on my way to blow up the Death Star. The game's an on-rails shooter, so I didn't have to steer- just throttle up and down and aim at the TIE fighters coming at me. The game's graphics are decent, but nothing worth calling home over- the Battle Pod is really about the experience of being in a starfighter.

Didn't even know about this. Very cool.

Does anyone else think it looks kind of meh?

Dude4203254d ago

Well, it's an arcade game, can't expect much in terms of graphics.

So funny to read that when "arcade perfect" used to be something to aspire to. I used to love arcades as a kid, but I am very happy that home consoles have taken over completely. I'm not the nostalgic type.

Considering it can cost up to 100,000 dollars it should look far more impressive

Dude4203254d ago

Well the standard one is $35 000, getting the $100 000 version gives you moving leather seats basically. I highly doubt the bulk of cost went into computer hardware, have you seen how this thing is built? I highly doubt they cared about hyper-realistic graphics, it's more about immersion.

They need to release this on PSN and Steam for VR headsets!
