Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Review | Press Play TV

"Remember ‘Midi-chlorians’ in Star Wars Episode I? How they take a universe full of wonder and magic and manage to suck out the fun by explaining too much? Yeah, that’s this game."

lol their micro review of MGS peace walker gave it 5 out of 10

PressPlayTV3113d ago

Thanks for reading! We try to use the entire 10 point scale though, so that's not as harsh as it might seem :)

kenpachi3113d ago

peace walker is not even close to been 5/10 game even the psp version was awesome back in 2010

Loadedklip3113d ago

Even if you use the entire thing ... a 5 at best has to mean mediocre. I think a lot of people would disagree with that.

But hey ... a review is nothing more than an opinion and you are entitled to yours.

Then use a 5 point system, pretty much everyone looks at a 10 scale, especially in games, as a school grading system. You are not going to change anything just confuse people for no reason

To be fair the gameplay does get pretty repetitive and the story is ridiculous, also the characters are pretty boring. The lack of immediate fast travel is a total pain in the arse too. That being said the gameplay is solid and there are plenty features to keep you busy. It's a great game overall but for me personally it's about an 8.5 .

lipton1013113d ago

I'm with you man. I do love it. Already done 53 side ops and only 16 or so missions and only 23% complete which blows my mind - a lot of content in a small package.

BUT it does get repetitive.

In codec communications and recordings, I can almost never tell who's talking. They all sound the same since Kojima decided to recast snake. And ocelot sounds like a wimp, I miss the straggly voice of his ps2 days when each character had a distinct sound.

Snake talks just a hair more than quiet unfortunately.

Story is kind of nonsensical so far anyway, I can't speak for the rest of the game so I consider that a null point at the moment. AndIj never played peace walker so I'm sure I'm missing a major piece of story there.

Helicopter travel can be more seamless.

But I don't mean to take away from the strengths of the game. The graphics and gameplay are phenomenal. Easter eggs are clever. The background of the story through tapes and the world building is also great. Overall it's amazing, just a few niggles that jump out at me.

Now we'll have to see how much the Master Collection will add to those numbers.

Number1TailzFan165d ago

Too bad it was a lazy release. They could've updated the visuals and everything. Missed opportunity.

Stanjara165d ago

...and yet, they couldn't give more respect and effort into the collection.
What a terrible company.

Minute Man 721165d ago (Edited 165d ago )

Are they counting every game?

Edit: they did

Nyxus165d ago

Yes, these are total lifetime sales of the entire series.

ApocalypseShadow165d ago

.... mostly with the help of PlayStation.

Yea I don’t get why they’re allowing old reviews to be posted here. Someone did one on Soul Reaver and I got so excited thinking there was some stealth release of an HD Remaster, but no… it’s just someone who had a slow day posted an old review…

Cacabunga181d ago

I liked the game but for me it felt somehow like a military simulator rather than a proper MGS.. i got bored of that

micdagoat19181d ago

I do wish they would remaster all the soul reavers

micdagoat19181d ago

it was done this morning though

goldwyncq181d ago

The author was in a coma for 9 years and didn't get to play the game when it released.

Chocoburger181d ago

This review arrived just in time for launch. Perfect timing!

RupeeHoarder181d ago

Amazing how bad this game looks already. We keep acting like this gen doesn't feel like an update but I think we're starting to see it.

YourMommySpoils181d ago

Looks better than Starfield, Cyberpunk and most recent games out. Still fine.

RupeeHoarder181d ago

It most certainly does not lol.

andy85181d ago

Have you player Cyberpunk since the first day? It's absolutely stunning now

One of the worst games ever made. Absolute overhyped trash!

Snowb420181d ago

The gameplay was great. It was the tacked on open world and repetitive missions that messed the game up.

Shane Kim181d ago

The game started really strong in that hospital, but after a couple of hours I wondered if it was even an mgs game I was playing.

KyRo180d ago

The hospital section was the only bit that felt like a MGS game.

MGS4 was the ending for me. I totally ignore the fact 5 exists. It didn't need to exist tbh
