No Microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront, Says DICE Dev

Star Wars Battlefront will use a "two-tier currency system" of points and credits, which sounds like the sort of thing that inevitably leads to microtransactions. This is especially true since, as GameSpot explained, credits are used to acquire better, deadlier weaponry as you struggle to free the galaxy from the Empire's black-gloved grip (or, uh, look to tighten that grip, if you're playing on Team Dark Side). But design director Niklas Fegraeus says that's not going to be the case this time around.

Great to hear to hear that this year's most anticipated shooter is free from micro transactions! Not to mention I heard that DLC was free. Need to verify that though.

I don't know about you all, but I'd be ticked off if my most anticipated FPS/TPS had micro transactions.

I'm still wondering why they haven't announced a season pass yet. Is it becasue all the forthcoming DLC will be free... or is it because they want to avoid the - "it's been cut from the game to be sold as DLC" fiasco.

I mean lets be honest - we know that DICE/EA have "premium" season pass for all their shooters. I'm a little suspicious as to why they havn't announced it, or what it'll contain yet. For example, we know there's a Fighter Squadron mode, and we know there has been demand for space battles. It makes financial sense to simply add that as DLC right?!

I think they know that people are still not fully convinced of their game so they save the "bad news" for when it can be overshadowed by hype and excitement. I don't believe that there will be no microtransactions at all and I'm almost sure that there will be some kind of season pass or premium membership, it's just not smart to communicate that before the game has proven itself.
EA will not miss out on milking this game, especially after paying so much for the Star Wars license, trust me.

Battlefield and COD both contain Microtransactions Halo 5 Also has lots of them. Who would have thought that a EA game would be the one that doesn't have microtransactions this year?

Cod has always had them, its probably the worst rip off.

Halo 5, however, all microtransactions are for cosmetic items for warzone, that can be unlocked for free if you play enough. And to compensate for that they're giving all DLC for free, which is 15 maps. On top of that it has a full huge campaign with co-op which Battlefront doesn't have.

I hate microtransactions, but at least 343 is justifying it. I'm still happy to hear that Battlefront won't have them because I wasn't expecting EA to do this. It's a little sad though, that we have to thank companies now for excluding these things that shouldn't be there in the first place.
