Remedy explain why Quantum Break is Taking so Long

Gamesradar

“Lake explains the project needs every second of that extra time to perfect its potential unique experience. It’s many things,” he says. “Just thinking about Quantum Break, as an example, there’s a lot of new technology, [Xbox One is] a new platform, it’s a new universe, new story, there’s new core gameplay. [That means] a lot of prototyping, and a lot of discovery. On the whole show side, there are a lot of challenges to figure out. It does end up taking time and, yes, we want to keep the quality high, so we don’t want to make certain kinds of compromises,”

Nice Nice thanks for the link. Bubs up.

Bnet3432793d ago

Yeah for real. Take your time, I still need to catch up on a bunch of other games XD

Tbh, Remedy should even have to explain anything. It's because they are Remedy, of course they will take their time making their games like nothing else matters! It should have been known by now.

christian hour2793d ago (Edited 2793d ago )

Remedy always take their time, good to see nothing has changed! And they're always worth the wait. Plus it gives me more time to save those pennys for an XB1 :3

It's sad that in todays climate devs have to come out and explain to rabid internet people why their games are taking so long (the big 3 are part responsible for this for releasing annual clones and rushing games out the door I suppose...)

Sound one Christocolus for the reddit link!

medman2793d ago (Edited 2793d ago )

Quantum Break is taking so long because they've changed so much of the cast and I'm sure are polishing like mad trying to make the game as good as it can be. I don't own an xbox one yet, but this is perhaps the one game I see on the horizon for early 2016 that would make me break down and buy one....I just wish Microsoft would hurry up and offer the slim xbox one already....

Pretty Uncharted 4 syndrome right here which is not a bad thing.

Didn't Alan Wake also take a fairly long time to come out? I'd rather these developers not be rushed and take their time to cook up something truly special.

Skate-AK2793d ago (Edited 2793d ago )

Announced in 2005 and released in 2010. So yeah, it was a while, 5 years.

Lamboomington2793d ago

It explains why their games are that good.

Picnic2793d ago (Edited 2793d ago )

Alan Wake was still a compromise of what the original more open world plan was though, so that it didn't break the story. It's a lovely looking game but only got about 80% averages because of repetitive combat and not enough to do during the day. Still, for atmosphere, meta fiction and a commencement of the kinds of set pieces that will be seen in QB, a highly worthwhile game.

Lamboomington2793d ago

@Picnic

Was a little repetitive, but it was still an amazing game for me. The quality of the storytelling and the gameworld, the visuals, the gameplay ideas.

christian hour2793d ago

Yup, started out as an open world game too when first revealed, but they couldnt tell the story the way they wanted to with the pacing that was required in an open world setting, so they went back to the drawing board and we got an incredible game for it :D

A lot of other devs would not have such luxuries but Remedy fought tooth and nail to get all the time they needed to deliver the experience they envisioned.

slasaru012792d ago (Edited 2792d ago )

Alan Wake suffered several engine changes. And the last revision was still unoptimized for xbox 360.

Take your time and create the best game you possibly can. I appreciate it.

"we had no idea how long it would take to make a quality game. MS said it would only be like 7 months on average, but, here we are.."

christian hour2793d ago

7 months on average?! Where the hell did MS get that number from!? XD

Kingdomcome2472793d ago

They didn't say that. He's just trolling. OT: I'm beyond pumped for this game. It's been my most eagerly awaited game for over two years now. I can't wait for this, Deus Ex, UC 4, and Mirrors Edge all to come out around the same time. I'm just praying that we don't get another delay. Please let April 5'th be final.

ThePresentIsAgift2793d ago

Alan Wake was absolutely worth the wait in my eyes. In a few weeks I'll be building a half decent pc for my steam collection and look forward to thrashing through it again with the visuals jacked up. Really stoked for Quantum Break.
